Some hairbrained news reporter suggested:
Allen further made his comments seem even more out-of-touch with the reality of the issue concerning broad and long-term trends in our climate when he ruled that hurricanes like Matthew “is what this whole climate agreement signed by 190 nations and now ratified by 60 or so is designed to stop.”

So the climate agreement will stop hurricanes.....Hahahaha, what a dork. Tell me Mr Allen, are you suggesting 300 years ago there were no hurricanes? And it's clueless idiots like this that makes me a denier.

Oh, but you miss the point. There will be more frequent and larger hurricanes now, because
heat drives the hurricane engine and since the Earth is heating up, the hurricane threat will also increase. But since you don't live in Florida, or the Carolina's, why do you care?
Oh wait, I just heard some Florida Republican complain on TV that we should delay the election because hurricane Mathew has trashed Florida and they won't be ready in time, which is a month away by the way. How convenient.

if by 'us', you mean Michigan, it's probably been a while. As for those of us on the Atlantic Coast, we've avoided direct hurricane hits, but have taken massive hits from coastal storms that are FAR more frequent and intense(Sandy, the worst of course). Of course, we're about the see a Cat 4 nail Florida in about 8 hours, so your timing is odd, to say the least. The gulf has seen a few, but most of the last few years' hurricane activity has been aimed at Mexico's part of the Gulf. The premise of this thread is clueless, as you completely misread that article if what you got was that new regs and goals would end bad hurricanes forever. That's been explained to you already, so I won't repeat it.

Actually, the PNW got hit in 1962 by a remnant of Typhoon Freda. I was living in Portland at the time and it scared the hell out of me. It ripped up the states of Oregon, Washington and Northern California. It can happen on either coast because it's the oceans that form and drive these storms. Since you're inland, lucky you.

All in favor of sticking Drudge and Limbaugh on the beach at landfall and letting them see in person just how exaggerated the claims are?

Just exactly what are you hyperventilating about? I don't see a Rush comment here.

Did you ever wonder why hurricane season was mostly during the summer? It's because warmer weather provides the energy required for storms. Even if you aren't in a region that gets hurricanes, think about how many times you've seen a thunderstorm during winter.
