Republican HQ in Orange County firebombed
Hillsborough police are investigating the apparent weekend firebombing of the Orange County Republican headquarters, an incident that one GOP official called an act of “political terrorism.”

Police say the incident occurred when a bottle of flammable liquid was thrown through the front window of the office on Ja-Max Drive.

The words, “Nazi Republicans get out of town or else” were spray painted on the side of an adjacent building.

“This highly disturbing act goes far beyond vandalizing property; it willfully threatens our community’s safety via fire, and its hateful message undermines decency, respect and integrity in civic participation,” Hillsborough Mayor Tom Stevens said in a statement. “Acts like this have no place in our community.”

Orange County, home to the University of North Carolina in nearby Chapel Hill, is overwhelmingly Democratic. Democrats and independents outnumber Republicans 5-1.

Hillsborough police and the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives were continuing to investigate.

Dallas Woodhouse, executive director of the state GOP, called the bombing “political terrorism.”

“The office itself is a total loss,” he said. “The only thing important to us is that nobody was killed, and they very well could have been.”

Oh sure. Firebombing a building without regard for life or property is completely understandable to you, isn't it slick?

What's to understand? This needs to be universally criticized, because this is the type of ★■◆● that sends things spiraling out of control.

no justification, just no deep meaning past youthful stupidity. The area in question is home to tens of thousands of college students, with a substantial subset drunk on a football weekend. I suspect this was a malicious stupid prank gone badly awry. It isn't like the county is the least bit in any political balance. I'd bet the Dem:Rep ratio is at least 8:1.

The first thing I thought when I heard the story was "false flag," but I've since read some commentary from locals in that area and it's hard to tell exactly what has happened. This election cycle has brought out a special kind of insanity, namely from those who are politically disenfranchised and/or apathetic. There is a possibility the perpetrators are politically unaffiliated and are doing this to cause controversy for the sake of controversy. The same kind of people who don't understand arson isn't a "prank." It will be interesting to see how this stupidity plays out.

politically, it will have no real effect. Trump and Hillary expressed disgust and expressed gratitude no one was hurt. The state GOP in a show of class, responded with gratitude to both public posts. Locally, like I said, the main populace is the University of North Carolina, and all support staff and related businesses. They are heavily Dem leaning, but certainly not to the point of violence by and large. North Carolina has been a hotbed for over-the-top conduct during this election cycle, which may reflect an absolute WAR on the state level as the populace reels from damage inflicted by a GOP heavy legislature and exec branch.

Looking at how the leftist thugs operate, I suspect this was more than a college students stunt.

What's funny is if I search on DNC vandalism, I get a large number of hits in many different cities, especially in 2010. If I do the same thing for RNC vandalism, I only get this one recent case. Plus, the RNC firebombing was called an act of terrorism. I can't find the same references to terrorists the DNC attacks. Double standard? Not that I condone this type of juvenile destructive behavior, it does seem to me that the Republicans are throwing a far bigger fit when this type of crap finally happened to THEM, and it was only ONCE so far. Let's just say I'm not surprised it happened either.

Yep. Sure nice of them to offer. I don't ever remember the RNC offering to help rebuild some vandalized DNC office however. I guess Dems are nicer than Repubs.

It really doesn't matter if Democrats are coming together to criticize this, or helping to fund reconstruction. Those may be worthwhile facts to take into account, but facts matter little to a lot of these people. What matters is whether or not Trump will use this to incite.

I like how even when Trump tries to incite bull★■◆●, he shamefacedly lies about the fact that he's getting his ass kicked in the NC polls. What a douchenozzle.

Yes, that's right. you can blame autocorrect for that one. It still needs a bit of teaching, I see.
What matters is whether or not Trump will use this to incite.

sure, upstate PA has seen a lot of threatening talk, some minor vandalism. Nothing out of the ordinary for modern, divisive campaigns. Thus far, you've provided us with two proven bogus videos, and we all know about the NC incident, which seems the worst extant to date. Perhaps the rush to inflame reflected in your sheeplike disseminaton of lies and the like may be part of the problem, huh?
