Scientists Accidentally Discover Efficient Process to Turn CO2 Into Ethanol

The process is cheap, efficient, and scalable, meaning it could soon be used to remove large amounts of CO2 from the atmosphere.

Me thinks converting carbon dioxide into something that can’t be re-burned as fuel might be better. >shrug<

Simply because human nature will prevail, and all of the new fuel will be burned at an even faster rate…because people will think its free…wheeeee…free fuel…

from ethanol can come a lot more than fuels. Hell, you may need to deal with a source of carbon for plastics and certain other endproducts, and there is no way this is going to be cheaper than Natural Gas to produce. The point is reducing the CO2 load in the atmosphere if done on a large scale.....with the caveat that we don't know exactly the end result on the environment, and that sort of situation sometimes doesn't play out well.
