FBI reopens Hillary investigation. Without speculating, this is a stunning turn of events. Question is why.

the question is INDEED why. So far, they have stated that none of the emails mentioned today eminate from Ms Clinton, and further are unsure whether they are even significant in the other investigation. They were found on Anthony Weiner's phone and he has no real link to Clinton save that of ex husband to a long-time aide.

starting to look like Comey was making nice with the Congressmen who'd attacked him, and covering his butt over the comment that 'nothing' further existed.

Except the same phone was used by both Anthony and Huma and was used to send messages to Hillary's server. How ever you may want to mitigate damage slick, for Comey to reopen this case, Comey has to have a bombshell bit of info.

I really don't think that at this stage of the election, Comey is tossing anyone a bone. There's more going on here than what is apparent at this stage. This could be the death knell of Hillary's election bid.callmeslick wrote:

no way ANYTHING comes out in 11 days, so good luck with that. Nearly 10% of the electorate has voted, and it seems that positions are fairly rigid.
Comey might be trying to save his job, but I don't know what the motivation is, frankly. As Bernstein speculates, there seems to be SOMETHING related to the overall investigation,but it seems clear from the little detail thus far that it doesn't directly deal with Clinton, her server, or even the Foundation. Who knows. Really dubious timing, and sort of hilarious seeing the same Trump team members who absolutely lambasted the FBI and the Director as being 'corrupt', 'crooked', 'bought and paid for' and 'incompetent' suddenly re-thinking.......

Doesn't change anything. She will be elected president and the same people who don't like her today will not like her after the election. She won't go to jail and this "surprise" is already looking to be a lot of hot air, though it is still too early to make any judgement about the matter.

care to post the actual letter from Comey, or shall I(I have the link someplace).? At NO PLACE does he say they are 're-opening' the investigation. He merely states, by way of clarification, that since he had reported to Congress that all emails had been reviewed, that the FBI found more in an unrelated investigation(Weiner's sexting thing) that they were going to review for classified material and THAT'S IT. Period. Nothing terribly frightening there. Now, mind you, it forces Clinton to deal with media and Trumptard discussions of emails yet again, but I suspect that opinions are quite hardened around the importance of that one to get us where we currently are. I just heard a (GOP) expert claim that by Monday all material should be reviewed. We can see if anything reveals itself, but I can't even imagine where Weiner's devices would have ever seen any significant material past child porn or some such.

turns out to be THREE emails? This is looking really embarrassing for Comey, and he has some 'splaining to do. Again. Given the longstanding DOJ policy about refraining from anything potentially impacting on political campaigns in the final 60 days(across both Rep and Dem administrations), Comey will not be FBI director for very long.

Because the case was never closed, so it can't be reopened. This whole letter by Comey is to cover his ass. He testified that his work was "complete" but now it turns out there is more to be done. It's purely a technicality, but an important one from a legal standpoint. There is virtually no chance that any of the three emails will cause him to change his recommendation, but from a legal standpoint it must be stated this way. oh, and note, too, Woody. It is very likely that even those three are already captured on HRC's end by the prior investigation. Thus, this whole bizarre thing is mostly about nothing. The timing of the letter becomes suspect, but past that, this will have no effect upon Ms Clinton's upcoming election victory.
