and, I would if the politics were in the other direction. Now, the Guardian is not on my preferred list of journalistic sites, but if what they are reporting turns out to be true, I think heads should roll, possibly from the top down. Opinions?

...and the IRS hasn't been targeting conservative political nonprofit groups? What about political enemies of the established party in power?

you mean, the same IRS that, it turns out, targetted pretty much every politcal 501c, after the hearings were held? When have the 'political enemies of the party in power' been subjected to FBI scrutiny for mere politics, since J Edgar Hoover departed? One had hoped we moved past that.....

I wouldn't have believed any partisanship IF the FBI had also been leaking some of their Trump/Russian investigations. But as we've seen, they're not saying squat about Trump, are they?

However, to play devil's advocate here, maybe Clinton has been skirting the legal line just a little too much during her political career, has made too many enemies along the way on the road to political queen-hood and now someone has decided that the opportunity and timing is right to really nail her to the wall once and for all. Even if they never find any legal wrongdoing, she may have permanently lost the chance to become president if she loses this time because of the FBI's little politically motivated leaks.

I have no doubt she's made enemies, but a good part of it comes from merely being a strong, competent woman. Plus, devils advocation aside, any FBI agent who is found to have leaked information outside official circles during an election cycle is guilty of violation of the Hatch Act, clearly. Also, it now turns out that some of what they were floating is absolutely fabricated. Our Senator caught at least one document, oestensibly on his(Carper's) letterhead with his signature. Neither is legitimate. Something very fishy has been afoot, and if not investigated and prosecuted should proof be there for that, we are heading into a very dark period akin to the era of Secret Police and the like.

I'm willing to bet that any DOJ investigation into the FBI's actions will instantly be labeled as a partisan investigation by every Republican in Congress and especially Trump, as an attempt to save Hillary's bacon. This despite the appearance that someone in the FBI clearly violated the Hatch Act by leaking this information days before the election. I'm also betting that it was someone placed into the FBI while Bush W. was in office. Personally, I don't believe this was Director Comey's idea either. He seems like an honest man, especially after the Bush/Ashcroft hospital incident. I think he's been forced into doing this somehow. Bush W. and his upper level directors did all sorts of mid and lower level civil service and department placements when he was president, far more than most other past presidents, and it was probably someone from that period who eventually rose through the ranks with an axe to grind and who's still there. Sadly, Hillary and the Dems in this case have a no-win situation here. As much as I don't like Hillary, I think it's a travesty of justice and an abuse of power. Republicans are out for a little Clinton revenge, but what goes around comes around. This type of abuse of power WILL most certainly be used against their candidates in the future. Sad.
