Dow Jones

Contrary to the fear mongering left, the Dow Jones is hitting record highs and been going up since Trump was elected. Scratch one false story the left was trying to promote during the elections.

My comment on the other thread applies both ways: Right now whatever the Dow is doing pretty well embodies a self-fulfilling prophecy, considering that Trump has another couple months before he can make any presidential impact on the economy. The investor types might do well to wait and see what he actually does before either driving up a crazy bubble or flushing the market down the toilet.

It wasn't a false story.

You are correct Vander...all those institutional wall street outfits that paid big money to Hillary Clinton thinking they would have preferable treatment, suddenly had cold water in their face and went to panic selling. Short lived tho.

look, the stock market is up, mainly because the investment community had assumed the Fed would raise rates on December 1. Now, Yellen may choose not to do so, or at least go real slow. What you need to look at is the BOND market, which is what I feared all along(no matter who won). Trump has already talked loosely about repayment of US debt, so that market has TANKED. Why does this affect you? Because in two short weeks, mortgage rates are up by close to 2%, along with all other interest pegged to treasury yields. You can see it starting to affect building, as new home sales just started to slow. The Dow is up because it is the ONLY remaining safe haven, and those who understand investment know that it isn't all that safe at the moment, either.

If Trump goes protectionist, which was one of his campaign promises, will he end up with the same result Hoover did when he implemented the Smoot-Hawley Tariff Act? As for the rising Stock Market, all bubbles eventually pop. It's a given. And the current bubble is massive and the bang will be huge. When that happens, sometimes the outcomes and solutions depend of the policies of the incoming president, a president-elect who hasn't batted an eye at going bankrupt. Why should he? He's sitting fat and happy and can easily weather a Stock Market dump. Can all of you say the same thing?

first off, you aren't in a bubble situation, yet, so don't panic there. The core economy, thanks to Obama is good, and nothing that Trump has threatened to do YET will mess that up. The issue is jobs. Just becuase the economy is making money doesn't(as pointed out in a few posts over the years)mean a damn soul is getting hired. It doesn't mean that coal is coming back, or steel factories will be firing up. All it means it that the GOP is likely to remove a bunch of regulations that PROTECT the average person. So, why Woody or anyone would crow about the stock market when the culture being ushered in is one of utter disregard for the broader protections or even the inclusion of the average citizen into the economy eludes me. Or, as the meme says:

Your operative word is "likely". In short you haven't a clue as to what regs will get changed. You are doing the typ liberal fear mongering before the guy is even in office.
