Cop Haters

Art is art but I think some paintings have proper places to be hung. In this case there was a painting that depicts police as pigs. While a art gallery would be such a choice, I don't think the Halls of Congress of our federal govt. is such a place. Seems the Dems want to rehang this painting after Repub Duncan Hunter took it down:
Democratic lawmakers are poised to revive tensions with the law enforcement community as they prepare to rehang a controversial painting on Capitol Hill that angered police with its depiction of officers as pigs -- after Republican Rep. Duncan Hunter personally took down the picture last week.
With all the tensions between the police and the black community do you think rehanging the painting in the nations capital is a proper place for it? I don't and I laud congressman Duncan for taking it down.

How to hell does something like this get displayed in the first place?

I say, let them put it back up, and next time take it down and burn it.

Untitled #1 as it's called, IS pretty divisive for "art". But isn't that the point of art sometimes, to be provocative and make people think? Do we censor someone's art because it offends us? It WAS the winning art piece in that Representative's district, which was done as part of the Congressional Art Competition.

Update:
Rep. Dave Reichert, R-Wash., complained the painting violated rules for the competition, which state that works depicting subjects of contemporary political controversy or of a sensationalistic or gruesome nature are not allowed. Speaker Paul Ryan informed Reichert on Friday that the architect of the Capitol has determined the painting violated the rules and will come down, his office reported.

That solves that "problem".

Perhaps everyone should take a look at all the contest winner's entries, if you're interested in looking.

Thanks TC. Not sure why the pig one was chosen. I would of went for the Buffalo one and any of the other seem to be more suitable.

Oh, you can bet since the Representative who chose it as the winner also happens to be black, it was probably political.
