I've noticed that making custom PCX files to use in briefings etc is not as simple as it looks. PCX files exported from Gimp and from XnView got me error messages in both DOSbox and Rebirth. "Unsupported PCX version", which then terminated the application.
I tried to make 320x200 versions of Vertigo's briefing screens and have them load in lowres mode. Any idea how to create PCX files that Descent will actually take?

Re: PCX specs for Descent 2
Oh, turns out I solved this problem as well.
It would seem the PCX files accepted by Descent need to be in indexed color mode, not in RGB mode. Also, it's nice if their specific palettes contain the color "00ff00" in them, which is needed for the traditional green briefing text.
