Christians ARE persecuted (and murdered) in muslim ruled and muslim majority nations.
But it's not just Christians that are persecuted and killed. Any non-muslim "infidel" is fair game.

I've been to Egypt and there are a lot of christian churches, they are definitely not far behind the mosques in raw numbers or attendance and somehow everyone seems to get along fine.
