Mitch's Zero Sum Game

Welcome to the last great Republican effort to destroy those hated Blue States during a national crisis by coming up with a plan to force state bankruptcies instead of giving Federal Aid. They can't win the game playing by the rules, so instead they toss the whole game like a toddler throwing a tantrum. Mitch McConnell has run out of ideas on how to keep Trump, and perhaps himself and other Republicans, in office after the next election. So he's come up with this desperate state bankruptcy plan. This is doubly related to allowing the Post Office to go under by this summer too, because hell, we can't let everyone vote by mail next fall either.
This isn't normal bankruptcy he's got up his sleeve either, it specifically targets unfounded liabilities or "pension" debt, NOT "bondholder" debt. Just like the Post Office's situation right now. You know, those pension plans which were set up long ago under legal contracts that can't be broken by any method other than bankruptcy? Heaven forbid Republicans screw over bondholders during the process of getting rid of that unfounded state and federal liability. On top of that, most of that is driven by Herculean health care costs, which neither party has addressed, so I heap some of the blame on the Dems for this one. So Mitch has come up with a way to solve both in one fell swoop and screw over the Dems in the process. However, I don't think he really cares that doing this is a zero sum game for the entire country because a lot of Americans who are NOT wealthy bondholders will get the shaft AND healthcare costs will continue to escalate unchecked for those soon to be shafted civil service retirees. Hell, even after the Civil War, war debt was rarely solved through bankruptcy. Don't use a national crisis to further your twisted agenda Moscow Mitch.

To wean everyone into that possibility, Republicans are now conveniently bringing up the massive national debt on Fox News, which of course wasn't a concern when they were giving out those huge tax cuts. The time to have dealt with it was when the economy was going like gangbusters and tax hikes could've started taking a bite out of the national debt. But noooo, that wouldn't be proper to their core values of keeping the rich happy while screwing over the rest of the working nation, that includes most Trumptards too. So instead of worrying about "shoveling money out of helicopters" or forcing bankruptcy on states that need financial help right now, raise taxes on those who can most afford it once this disaster is over to fix the national debt. You know, like a fiscally responsible government should be doing.

Maybe it IS time to think about state successions if some of our national leaders so despise us that they're willing to force bankruptcy on certain states and throw even more American people out of their jobs and under the bus. Or worse, force older Americans BACK into the job market, at least those who survive Covid-19. I mean, the way the current administration has been treating many Blue States during this disaster, our nation might as well be called the "Us vs Them States of America". I hate to wish this virus on anyone, but McConnell could use a really good, long, deadly infection by this bug right about now because this man is a downright self-serving evil prick without a soul, along with the party he belongs to.
