I'm not a huge fan of RPM-based distros, so I'm mostly just watching this play out with popcorn in hand, but I don't think there is anything stopping anyone from just creating another CentOS, i.e., another distro that just takes RHEL and strips out the non-redistributable trademarks and logos.

Looks like the founder of CentOS is doing just that.

Every web host provider I've ever had uses Cent OS. I'd image a lot of shared hosted sites run it. I can't imaging what would happen if goes the way of Crunch Bang (#!), Puredyne, or Ubuntu... which died in 2010, in my opinion.

Can you expand on this opinion? It's a strange opinion since Ubuntu is bigger than ever.

Is that around the time Unity came out? I agree that based purely on usage numbers it's difficult to argue that Ubuntu is dead. Disclaimer: I'm typing this from an Ubuntu laptop.

I'll say this, Ubuntu is widely used in CVS Pharmacy.

I mean, it's one of the most user friendly editions, so that's no big shocker right there.

Jeff250 is 100%, as usual, but it's just my personal opinion. I don't mean to yuck your yum.
Funny story. I bought a M$ Surface Go thinking Ubuntu would be the best distro for it. It's really not. The gesture and screen auto rotation controls are buggy. Linuxmint has been really solid with it, for some reason. I've been meaning to distrohop just to see what else works on it. I had to do some tweaking, tough, but no distro is without some tweaking. If you see me on here, it's because I'm on my surface running Mint.
