The news has reported that Trump has been indicted . This is the first time a former president has this happened too. It will be interesting to see how this plays out. For one thing who is going to protect him? The Secret service can't protect him while he is under arrest. So will the NYCPD handle the task? Do you believe the charges are legitimate or is the prosecutor trying to make a name for himself? Or do the Dems think this will keep him from running? Anyways I'm sure some of you are wildly ecstatic over this.

Nixon was almost indicted for Watergate. He resigned before they could nail him to the wall, like he should've been. Oh well.
https://www.newsweek.com/grand-jury-ind ... te-1195613
But this indictment against Trump isn't the only one and it's the least important case. We also don't know what the actual charge will be or if it's a misdemeanor or felony. There are a couple of other investigations going on, especially the federal ones concerning Jan 6th and the classified docs he took and
deliberately hid away at Mar a Lago. There's also that case of him meddling in the 2020 Georgia elections with that little phone call to the Georgia Sec State.
By the way, Trump loves to rail on about the New York DA and corrupt justice. He even had the balls to post and remove a picture of himself swinging a baseball bat at the DA and other death threats. If I'd posted that stuff, I'd be under investigation by the FBI. But Trump seems to forget that a
grand jury heard testimony and found there was sufficient evidence to indict him for a crime. Presidents and former presidents are not God and not immune from the laws of our land, nor should they be. They do the crime so they should do the time like every other U.S citizen.
Woody, you might want to look to what's going on with Israel/Netanyahu right now. This is what happens when a national leader is under investigation for corruption, gets re-elected for some insane reason by deluded followers, then uses the power of his office to try to subvert a long standing and fair justice system to save his ass. The people are pissed off and took over the streets, putting a kink in his plans, so far.

"Let me tell you, this arrest, it's absolutely tremendous. The hugest. Really, the biggest arrest you've ever seen. They had to bring in, I mean, the most cops, more than anyone has ever had in history. Huge amount of cops, believe me.They knew, they knew, they had to bring the best to arrest the best, folks. That's just how it is. And you know what, it's a total witch hunt, a complete hoax, but I have to give them credit, they went all out for this one. I've got the best lawyers, the smartest people working for me, and we're going to win this arrest. We always win, that's what we do. So don't worry, I'll be back. Maybe even while I'm still in jail and we'll make America great again, even better than before. You just watch, folks."

First off Hillary was only a mouthpiece for Obama. And you seem to forget her husband who was accused of far worse crimes like rape (Juanita Broaddrick) and sexual harassment (Paula Jones). Yet Herr Klinton never spent a day in jail, though he did lose his law license for awhile. Lets face it, the Dems know Trump was a effective President and will do anything to prevent him from being leader again. This indictment shows the Dems are on par with third world dictatorships and playing the George Soros game. Welcome to the brave new world, Bernard Marx

My in law aunt, to her dying days decades later, refused to believe that Nixon was guilty of anything. It was all a frame up job by the Dems she claimed, even though those tapes and his own voice damned him to certain prosecution. Keep on trucking and spouting how great a president Trump was and blinding yourself to what a scumball this man is with those orange colored glasses you refuse to take off. And for the record, Clinton was impeached and should've been charged for something after all the crap he pulled. It would've at least set precedence for nailing Trump, a man who has never faced any consequences for any of those bad or illegal decisions he made in his entire life, especially while he was president.

Or, he could simply be a criminal finally meeting some long overdue consequences.

I believe all presidents upon leaving the White House should be escorted into a van and immediately placed in prison. And also most of Congress. And their families. Joe Biden, Hunter, and Pelosi can all share adjoining cells.

Trump was only effective at doing what conservatives wanted, not everyone else or even independents in this country. Only in YOUR mind do you think the Dems even harbor the thought that Trump was effective as president. He catered to the right wing only, while vilifying everyone who even smelled liberal or opposed him. That's the problem with BOTH political parties right now. They only cater to those on THEIR side most of the time, forgetting that we are a nation, not a particular party. I'll have to hand it to him, Trump was the best at that practice, ginning up his base by vilifying the opposition like some sick game. Biden hasn't been any better either. He's Dem to the core. But remember, he also has to work with an opposition party that now worships Trump like a God and is crazy as hell, so I'll cut Biden some slack. Trump was effective at only one thing, dividing people and enriching himself. That's not being a leader. Now we're as far apart philosophically and politically as ever.

You do not need to entertain woodchips delusion. Trump was not effective at all, he is just a loudmouth figurehead surfing the right wing wave of hate.
Gave the rich and powerful an even bigger tax break, cratered the economy, exploded the national debt, and set the stage for dangerous autocrats like Putin and Xi to gain more power and influence. History will not be kind to his administration.

He was also effective at stirring up the white supremacists and Neo-Nazis by directly pandering to them.

You missed how Trump royally botched the Covid-19 response with his constant berating of the vaccines HE authorized with all sorts of negative, nutty, and false conspiracy theories. Talk about cutting off your own nose to spite your own face. Then there's all those nonsense and/or deadly "cures" he kept coming up with like he was some sort of "super medical genius" on TV and social media. Woody is like a rubber target. You wack him often enough and hard enough with a big hammer and
eventually some dents WILL start to show. Besides, target practice is fun.
Oh, and there's this:

Well, Trump marched himself into the courthouse looking like a hang dog today. For the first time in his life he was not in control of his own situation. He did not enjoy being neutered or being told what to do. And anti-Trump protesters far outnumbered MAGA protesters. Trump's groupies missed the call. Little miss Majorie Taylor Green showed up, yelled in her bullhorn for 10 minutes, saw that MAGA was MIA, leaving her without an audience. So she hopped back in her car and left.
So the judge warns Trump to quit speaking out with inflammatory language towards judges, grand jury members, the DA's and all their families while this court case moves forward. What does he do? Go right back to his palace in Florida and rant about the judge, the judge's wife, the DA and the whole court system with threats of violence, unfair treatment and hate. I wonder how long it will be before that judge issues a gag order on ol' motor mouth?

When you don't know you're in a cult, you get this.
And when everyone else knows you're in a cult, they can't help but laugh at you.

Problem is, cultists are dangerous. They never listen to reason or reality and fight like hell to preserve that reality, until it comes crashing down around them. Your God is a false God woody. He's nothing more than a 2-year old throwing a temper tantrum because he got caught with his hand in the cookie jar and thinks he did nothing wrong. Then he stands up in public to yell that his mother is a monster deserving of death for punishing him. Granted, this case is weak and may fall apart, especially with the statute of limitations issue, but a couple of the others will stick and damn him to jail. Toddler Trump don't like being put into time out do he?

And we all know how cults end up. Koresh's cult, Manson's cult, Heaven's Gate. They all end suddenly and most of the members die.
This will be no different.

Not necessarily. Evangelicals believe they're the true Christians and Catholics are heretics. There's all sorts of infighting between sects, even Evangelical sects. There's also disagreement about the 2020 election. Young people are no longer going to church either. They're no longer united as a single religion.

They haven't been "united as a single religion" since the early first millennium.
