Is it too late to spread a conspiracy theory on the web that the hurricane isn't going to be that bad and it is really just a liberal democrat government plot to give a bunch of homes in Florida to illegal immigrants while all the real owners are away?

That way all the chuds and maga shitheads will grab their guns and ignore the evacuation warnings, then the hurricane will come and drown them all. It would be a win on so many levels.

100%. Your average MAGA chud isn't without agency, but they're ultimately the useful idiots of the financial interests that fund the right wing media they consume. For most, their biggest fault is believing that liars are telling them the truth. I know that Spidey. If I were to sink to the MAGA level, I could wallpaper the internet like some deluded leftie troll that Florida is being punished by God for being home to a bunch of climate denying MAGA conservatives and even get sick pleasure out of it like woody seems to enjoy when he berates the left constantly here. However, I don't find it "fun" being a jackass, nor do find any pleasure in most Floridian's current suffering, even though most people there probably hate people like me since they elected the king of trans bashers for governor. My dental assistant was worried about her 2 kids living in Tampa and rightly so, and that was when she thought Milton was only going to hit as a category 3. It's going to be much, much worse today. This is going to be the trash panda of hurricanes.

I know you're making a very tasteless joke about dealing with conspiracy theorists, but I do sometimes wonder if years from now researchers will be able to figure out how a sizable percentage of the population went absolutely bonkers and believed the most insane garbage imaginable. It's a known psychological trick to mix truth and fiction to manipulate people, but so many are just believing complete and utter nonsense. Is there a medical reason? Some kind of gene breakdown? Cosmic rays?

No single point of failure, but between all these conservative boards of education (Texas/Florida/etc), christian nationalism, and internet algorithms amplifying social media biases; you can see an easy picture of how people already predisposed to right wing insanity like woodchip willingly crawl down the rabbit hole.

I don't know which is worse. The give-away-abandoned-homes-to-immigrants lie or the libs-created-hurricanes-to-steal-lithium-from-Chimney-Rock lie. I think the problem is, when a group of people come to hate another group of people, all reasoning is tossed in the trash in favor of emotional revenge and no talking things through can solve problems. Maybe that's human nature. It's more fun to fight and win than settle differences amicably and move on.

I just came across a right wing political cartoon and article suggesting that hurricane Milton was seeded by the government using chemtrails and then steered with lasers, liquid nitrogen, turbines and microwaves. Also claiming the fires in Paradise, California and Lahaina, Maui were caused or aided by space lasers. And it isn't even the first cartoon I've seen today suggesting democrats are steering it to hit Florida.

I couldn't make this ★■◆● up if I tried, it is just too ridiculous and divorced from reality or any sort of scientific understanding. Just like I've had multiple people ask me why Tesla doesn't just put an alternator on their electric vehicles to charge the battery forever so it could have infinite range. People just straight up don't remember what they were taught in school anymore the moment they no longer need it to pass the next test, even stuff as concrete as the laws of thermodynamics goes in one ear and right out the other.

I dont know, i thought Hurricane Katrina was blamed on Dick Cheney's Hurricane Joystick. And way back on NPR Talk of the Nation had Louis Farakahn to talk about New Orleans and the flooding and Farakahn said something to the effect that "Ive heard reports of people blowing the levys with dynamite" and the host was all like " we are going to need a source for that" lol

Whoever is in office gets the blame for weather and the economy and race relations. Its pretty retarded and i cant believe adults roll with it to make themselves feel better
