The creator of this project
posted on reddit so I'm cross-posting here because it looks really cool. They are reworked, hi-res textures specifically for the ray-traced version of Descent. Looks great.

Now this I like. Staying close to the original and it's clean looking.

March 18, 2025
- Fix for alpha of base texture taking precedence over alpha of overlay texture
- Improved blending between texture layers
- Added new menu option "Direct Specular Amount" to specify the amount of direct specular used in final render to reduce washed out look.
- Added a few textures to the always load list that were missing resulting in some high res textures not loading
- Added "Retrace Rays" feature to fix incorrect rendering for overlapping segments (~10% performance hit when enabled, but fixes most render artifacts due to overlapping level segments)
- Enabled rendering of mine exit tunnel through terrain to fixed ship clipping through terrain during end level sequence
- Fixed incorrect motion blur when camera outside mine during end level sequence
