Saw it today. Awesome. Just plain awesome. The title should've been "The Amazing Spider-Man" actually.
Going to see it again on Friday and Saturday with different groups of friends. You MUST see the greatness that is S2 this weekend! If enough people rally it'll break the original's already record-breaking statistics!
The best film I've seen since Return of the King! And for the comic book adaptation genre, it's right up there with Superman: The Movie!

Superman = classic
I'll see S2 sometime within the next week.

I thought you meant the rating on rottentomatoes was 21.4% and was ready to disagree with that right away since I paid for my ticket to see this movie in the theater today.

Good?
What, despite Kirsten Dunst?
It *must* be amazing then!

I loved it. The previews for IRobot and that movie with Nicholas Cage looked pretty good too.
I think we know who the next baddy is.

me and my crazy ass went to see on midnight of opening night, it was great, maybe we get two villians on the next one, cuz goblin would make it just like 1, ooh, maybe hob goblin, and green goblin?

Although Hobgoblin was one of Spidey's more dangerous foes, I don't think the movie guys would be too keen on doing another 'goblin' character despite their historical Spider-Man significance. However, being that Harry took up his fathers place as the Green Goblin later due to his hatred for Spider-Man, it definitely looks like they might head down that road eventually.
If they do make a third Spider-Man, which they probably will, I believe the next villain will probably be Vulture...maybe Shocker or even Sandman. You can't count out Scorpion either, however, I don't think they will overlook one of my favorites and absolutely one of the most popular not to mention deadly, Venom.

I heard there will be min of 5.
Saw SP2 just 30 min ago. Not sure what to think of it.

I think they might do a dual villians deal.
in any case, Spiderman 2 -KICKED ASS-!!
Except a lot of the movie was him battling with his inner demons. But the movie rocked.

Battling inner demons is a main stay in ANY super hero movie/comic etc. Theu always have to weigh the risks of their life and their loved ones.

In the early Spiderman Comics and DareDevil this was always a major theme.

I dunno, there are a ton of enemiesout there- mysterio shows up alot, along with kingpin & all of his henchmen- both of those would have a well deserved spot in another spiderman movie. I do have to say, venom is considered spiderman's arch enemy- it would be cool to have him appear at some point- maybe along with that one psyco venom clone- what was his name?

I think it was Carnage. (The only way I know this is by playing through the PS1 Spider-Man game
)

Venom is/was Post "secret Wars". Doc Oct, the lizard dude, Green goblin, and Hobgoblin go way back ... to the first 100 issues.
Oh, I guess a lot of you guys don't know what "Secret Wars" are ..er were. In short. It ws a failed, very sad marketing ploy to sell tons of comics. They took one story line and ran it thru like 6 or 8 publications. The store was illconcieved and I won't go into it. Nuff said in that venom or rather the race that spawn and venom came from came into contact with Peter Parker here as a "new" costume that he asked for that he didn't have to keep changing in and out of. ... kinda a parkable super suit.

*AND* SM3 is already listed on Fandango
Also, although I've already seen the movie, I'd recommend using spoiler tags on some of those previous posts?
But yeah, this movie was great.
Although Peter pissed me off with his girl-getting skills.
Venom will never be in a Spider-Man movie as long as Sam Raimi is the director. He's openly stated he doesn't like the character.
I noticed that too. It seemed like MJ's return to Peter was a little flimsy, given how he had acted earlier in the movie. The only real connection they made was at the end, when he held the wall off of her. Also, some of the intimate scenes between Peter and MJ were almost painful to watch, due to Pete's lovesick-yet-conflicted shtick.
But once the action kicked in it was really friggin sweet. The subway battle rocked.
Loved the cameo by Bruce Campbell too

Hmmmm..... where was Bruce Campbell?
Yep, Venom is a long ways off. I would still see it if they did the next Goblin. Maybe a dual villian though would be sweet.
Alhtough, I was hopeing when the bride didn't show up that the next Goblin would fly through on his flier wearing the brides dress.

Being that Venom was probably the most popular modern foe of Spiderman's, I can't see why they wouldn't eventually get to him. Especially if they're making a min of 4-5 movies.
I'm quite familiar with the 'Secret Wars'. If I remember correctly during that whole deal is when Peter first encountered the symbiote lifeform that became his alternative costume, thus leading to the rejection of the lifeform due to the possible consequences of bonding with it and being exposed to it for a prolonged time. That eventually befell Eddie Brock which in turn created Venom. Not really that complicated but would need a lot of explaining leading up to it.
Kinda sad really, because Venom is by far one of the cooler Spidey bad guys.
I forgot to mention that Mysterio could be a possible villain in one of the next installments.

LOL Bubba
Tyr - True. That isn't a lot of trouble. I ment explaining the whold Secret Wars thing. A bit convoluted and pointless (imho). Venom seemed kinda like a spin-off of sorts of the goblin/hobgoblin idea.
When i was posting earlier, it occured to me that the Secret Wars thing was like
20 years ago!
and there are some that were not born then or were way to young to remember.

The one thing about Venom that made him unique is that other then being able to do everything Spiderman could aside from having superior strength in comparison, he overrode Spiderman's spider-sense. So Venom was very deadly and because of that he has always been one of my favorites.
My only gripe about the first Spiderman was the fact that he can't shoot webs on a true biological level, the spider bite only increased his physical attributes and senses. Being interested in science and all he created the web formula and the webslingers to wear around his wrists, hence the trademark position of his fingers when his web comes out. The fingers hit the trigger of the mechanism to shoot the web. Being a comic dork most of my teens this is something that bothered me with the movie.
Just like my only gripe about X-Men, aside from certain characters being out of place in X-History (I hate that!), was that Cyclops is taller then Jean Grey in the comics and Storm is taller then most the other X-Men aside from probably Colossus. She is by far one of the taller X-Women. Course, I'm biased because I thought Halle Berry was a terrible choice for Storm. I thought Vanessa Williams would have been a better cast. She has that dignified look about her that the comics made storm out to be. Berry looks like a deer in the headlights half the time.
Well...my geek is showing

Tyr, yeah I agree about Halle, I tinhk VW would of been better.
Problem with hollywood is they get who will bring in the $$.
Tom Cruise should not of played Lestat in that vampire movie, but because they wanted to make $$, they hired him. Just like "the last samuri" you'd think they hire some oriental actor instead.
Oh well, c'est la vie.

I saw Spider Man again today with my girlfriend. She hadn't seen it and so we were all excited...whoo...1/2 way through the movie a lightning storm knocks out power in the theater, and we have to wait in line to get a free-admission pass to any movie. I've already seen spider man 2 once...and I was still lovin it the second time...pissed that the movie cut out mid-way though.

Cruise played a remarkable Lestat. So much so that not having him for the Queen of the Damned movie (which absolutely sucked) resulted in a bomb (lets just say this wasn't the only reason it bombed. Not having Rice to write the screenplay like with Interview hurt and skipping 'The Vampire Lestat' in the order of things hurt). Anyways, he was so good he stole the movie out from under Brad Pitt, who played the main character, Louis.
Besides LOTR, Interview with the Vampire is one of the best book to movie adaptations out there.

Interview was a terrible adaptation. Lestat couldn't fly until the third book, yet the movie had him 50ft in the air within the first 10 minutes.
I went to a drive-in double feature + fireworks on Sat. night. SP2 and White Chicks. Spiderman 2 was ok. Good graphics. A lot of inconsistencies. The plot outline was slightly hazy for me, 'cause I never read the comics.
White Chicks was stupid. A few haha's, but overall a dumb movie. I ignored it and played grab-ass until the fireworks started.

My wife is a Vampire fanatic and she told me the that the movie (interview) sucked compared to the book.

I thought it was a great film. I saw it with 3 friends late Friday night. I thought the original was good, but came out of this one thinking, "man, this was even better." The special effects for Doc Oc were superb, they definitely made good use of their budget. Now, for the 1st one I thought Kirsten Dunst was one of the weaker elements of the film. Maybe it was because I saw it the day after I saw SW II, AOTC, and was overwhelmed by Natalie Portman
, but regardless I liked Kirsten Dunst much better in Spiderman II than I.
