Hey guys. Since there seems to never be any entropy games going... like there was that many in the old days, hehe.

Ok, back on track here. A few of us are getting together on Tuesday night for some old school entropy action. So if your a fan of entropy and want to play, post in here.

Entropy Night:
Tuesday @ 9:00PM EST.

I was planning on using a SOD server for this unless someone with a better server wants to let us use theirs. If you want to "donate" their server, hit me up a reply in here as well.

Entropy is a game type that comes with Descent 3. No one really plays it anymore but it is the best game type there is. It very demanding of a good team that know what it's doing.

Man, so how long has it been since you have played entropy sirian, I'm betting as long as me. This should be one hell of a game. Old Skool Baby, Old Skool.

BTW, I was thinking some Halogen or some Steel Vapor. Any sugestions?

Oh one more BTW, I have a teamspeak server setup. So we can use that for Tuesday's night game. If you don't have teamspeak you can download it Here. All you need is this program and a mic. I will put up the server info later on.

Entropy is a type of team game where your team tries to take control of individual rooms within a level. The way to take control of a room is to have a ship carry 5 viruses into the room and then hold still for a few seconds. In order to get a ship that can carry 5 viruses, you need to make 3 kills without dying -- once you've done that, just pick up the viruses, and go take over an enemy room. The game ends when one team owns all of the rooms in the level.

In order to do well, you need a good team -- you need teammates who can protect you while you take over an enemy room, and you need teammates who don't let players from the other team take over your rooms. I think it's cooler than Capture the Flag, by a lot.

However, if you are the weakest player on a team, you're not in a good position. Because of the three kill requirement, it would be hard to get enough viruses to capture, and any deaths you got would be feeding the other team. Entropy can be boring unless the teams are perfectly matched.

If you're a weaker player, you need to have some strategy to compensate for your tactical inability. Here's just one concept. Weak player as bait, lures, runs, enemy chases, walks into ambush, BLAM eats fusion, your team racks up some virus capacity.

That's just the start. More important than being a strong player is being a TEAM player. It's a team mod, after all.

I've finally found my role in life...Entropy bait .

If we don't get at least eight solid players, we should consider playing Face Off instead. Other levels just aren't good with less than 4v4.

Seriously, Face Off is the only Entropy level I know of that is playable with less than eight ships.

Of course, if we get eight or ten to sign up, that will become a moot point. And then we can play Halogen.

Whats Halogen?

3BE Level 3. You haven't played Entropy until you've played 3BE. Head to PD and grab 300Baud Entropy, then fly around the levels in Entropy mode to get a real look.

3be entropy is the best entropy set by far. I will try to make a tuesday game but i currently don't own a powerful enough card to run d3 ;(

If you host Siege Maxius(best entropy level of all time and oh btw level 4 of 3BE), I will be there.......

Siege requires a good 5 on 5 or so though to be really fun. 4 on 4 = ok, but not as much action.

Hostile would you really pass if we were playing a different 3BE level? I mean, how often does good Entropy come along?

Siege might be a bit much for starters. As you say, it really calls for 5v5 or larger. Not that I care, personally, about which level to play. I will gladly play any of the nine 3BE levels.

FaceOff is the best entropy lvl by far. works great for 3v3, but is a strategist's dream in 4x4.
the 'Ants dominated entropy, primarily due to tactics mastered in FaceOff (and amazing teamplay :p )
It's fast and furious, and has an amazing opportunity for reversals...

Seige Maximus is a fantastic lvl for entropy, but it lasts far too long for most players...

I'd play some Tuesday night entropy if I didnt have to read the "how to play online" threads...can I just IP in?

6PM PST is a bit too early for me to get back from work but I'll stick my head in when I do get home. **ANY** 3BE level is playable with less than 10 players and all are worth playing.

And yes, Entropy is the best D3 mod.

Please host it on a GOOD server. I'm tired of playing with tanks that jump 4 ship lengths at a time.

I'll try to be there... Can we play on geodomes? (Love that level)

I heartily agree with bubba. Not only would disallowing the skippy decrease the...well...the skipping, but I think entropy just plays better with pyros.

ok maybe I have been out of it for awhile here, but how does a client run at something other than what the server is running at in terms of packets?

I personally think that any of the 3be levels, mainly face off and halogen, are great and of course steel.

I think that would be better to stick to those maps as we will have some people who may not be up to par on entropy enuff to play some of the other maps. These maps are very easier to learn and play.

As for the pyros only, thats up to you guys. I can play with anything but a tank.. hate playing with those things.

Next, as I said, if someone server op will donate his server to the cause then I will use that instead of a SOD server. I personally have no problems on SOD servers, but other do. So if no server we play on a SOD.

Not necessarily. I've seen accusations of such things when I know for a fact that the person has 9 out of 9 pps.

Aye 9 PPS, thats the setting, but the overloaded cable node or cheezy DSL modem might be sending some of them out of order and or dropping them.
