Infiniti G35 Coupe ?
Infiniti G35 Sedan ?
Lexus IS 300 Sedan ?
Honda Accord Sedan V6 ?
In any case I would get the top end model, which is very similar in all listed above. GPS/Color Nav, All Leather, etc. They all have nice features. They all are about as fast as the other. The Infiniti is a tad more powerful, and a bit faster (but I am old, not a racer) IS 300 = 215HP, the Honda = 240HP, the G5 = 260HP.
They all cost about the same. With all the features the G35 lists at abot 35k, the Lexus at about 32K, the Honda at about 29K. Figure you can get them down 10 - 15%.
So which would you buy ?

Have you looked at the Acura TL? Has everything last toy you cuold imagine including full voice recognition that actually works. Very nice looking car too. 270 horsepower. Priced at about 32k, 34k with Navigation.
If not the TL, then definately the G35. But drive the TL first.

I'd take a Toyota over a Honda or Nissan anyday.

I'd get a old piece of ★■◆● pickup truck.

Did you drive them yet?
Lexus is the one I would go with.
If I was going to spend 30k on a new car I would get a new GTO or a Grand Prix GTP/CompG. But that's me
How ya been? You should stop in more often, all work and no play......

Hey ya,
How have I been... BUSY !!!!
Man I tell ya - for an old guy, I have been busting a hump.
Sorta settled in the new house (been a year now - well next week). Still have stuff to do, but that is what next year is for.
Work has been crazy, mostly in good ways.
Tet: In general the Toyota/Lexus - Infiniti/Nissan - Acura/Honda rate very close to the same in quality, even over a decade of driving.
The G35 Coupe and the Acura TL are the monsters in the group. Currently I am leaning toward the Infiniti, but am torn bewteen the Coupe and Sedan.
The coupe is almost a 2 seater - I.e. only short people wopuld want to sit in back. I am still chewing on it. I likely won't buy for another 6 or 8 weeks.
No i have not driven them yet. I am checking into them, to see if any have something that would get them off my list. Then I will go drive them.
KompreZor - I wouldn't piss away money on an american car to save my momma. I have yet to see one that is built worth a ★■◆●. Sad to say, but oh so true. Don't get me wrong - there are plenty of crappy foriegn cars too.
Since I don't tend to go get new cars too often (been driving the same one for 15 years) I want something that lasts. That pretty much narrows it down to Toyota/Lexus - Infiniti/Nissan - Acura/Honda.

Kevin, get the sedan. Avoid the midlife crisis vehicle if possible. I just can't see your sorry, pasty unproportional body (god your right arm is bigger than your left) in a coupe. Hell, my best friend's dad bought a 2 seater mercedes...he's practically too embarrassed to even take the thing out of the garage.
Trust me, you'll be more graceful in the sedan.
Just the opinion of someone young and cool, you know.
And I'm sick of your discrimenatory remarks about us height-challenged folks.

I'm with birdseye on this one, you ain't good looking enough for anything except a sedan.
Hope you & yours are doing well bud, everything is great here, daughter is two now.

Pfft, pay no heed to folks worrying more about how you
look in a car from the outside rather than how you
feel in a car from the inside. Get the performance coupe. It will invigorate you.

I'm with Bash: screw the 4 or 5 door option. You want something that goes like hell, sticks like sh!t to a blanket and sounds like a box of wailing banshees!
I'm busy finding a late model Porsche 928 S4: 5.4 litre V8, 327+ BHP, 178 mph, gas-guzzling Ultra-GT car.
"No luxury car as fast. No fast car as luxurious"
Prices were almost quarter of a million dollars when new in New Zealand. I can get a mint-condition example with less than 60,000 miles for under 25K!

Offhand I would say the MSRP.

I love honda accords, but I will never buy one again. I bought one for each of my first two wives and they both took them with them when they left
. I haven't and won't buy one for my third wife and she is still here.....could be just a coincidence though heh..... Go with the Infiniti sedan. They are sweet looking and sporty enough, but not a mid-life crisis car as suggested earlier.

But *everybody* and their brother-in-law has a Japanese sports tourer. Who wants to be another Jones? Plus the CTS starts at ~$31 and it's rear wheel drive.
And besides that, the CTS-V kiks their butts in looks *and* performance.

Sarge: all due respect - but the caddy is a piece of crap. Quality in a car is seen when it is a year or two old, with 20k on it. Though the caddy is far better than most american cars, it is not even close to the options I mentioned. Nor does it hold the resale like they do.
If midlife crisis had anything to do with it, I would likely buy the porsche I always dreamed of as a yougnen. I deal with my midlife issues with hookers and strippers - not cars
The reason I look at the smaller cars, and coupes is that I just don't care for larger cars - never have. Also being something near sane I figutre I just won't spend more than 40k out the door for anything.
If I was willing to go to 48 or 50k I would get the Infiniti FX45. I have thought about adding the FX35 to my list.
I am also realistic enough to know that I really don't want to go for a full manual tranny. Most of these offer auto w/ shift option.
The Acura TL is nice - but the body style doesn't do it for me. If the G35 coupe had more rear headroom it would be almost a slam dunck.
The G35 sedan has some sweet things like reclining rear seats. Granted they would get used rarely, but...
I gues I could go for a coupe, since 95% of my driving is alone. Then buy my wife a new car (a sedan) for when we need it

Kev, get whatever floats your boat. Brandy can squat in the back if she ever needs to

Sickone, why don't you have any euro cars on the list? Or is this the short list already? Mercedes C class cars are well made rides and last close to forever if normal maintenance is paid attention to. Well anyways, good luck in choosing the car.

Oooo-yea, or a 540i! (not the new one, they're fugly)

I did think about a BMW. But value for price isn't as good. Long term they don't withstand the wear as well. The Benz, though nice rides have really bad service records. Though they have gotten better, still not as good.
As I said earlier in the thread, I tend to keep cars a long time.
If i kept a car 2 years and got a new one, I might even look at some american rides. If I was a 5 year guy German cars would be on the list. Though the VW cars do have good service / long term records they don't have anything I like.
Say what you want, but if you tend to keep a car for 10 years.... Toyota/Lexus - Infiniti/Nissan - Acura/Honda are really the only choices.
If you need proof go look at any (and I mean any) american car that has been a driveway(outdoor parked) vs any of those I listed after say 5 years. The paint alone tells the story.
Oh and before anyone tells me I am an unpatriotic SOB.... my current Honda was built in Ohio. It is about design, process, and quality.

Sic if your going for a car out of this bunch and your equally split on all of them then pick the one that would have the best resale when you get ready to trade up, historically that would be the Honda, I Work for a Honda dealership in the bodyshop
in 2001 we had a 99 civic that was damaged we did 9k wortj of repairs to it I was sure it was a total but the Ins company said nope it was worth 13k. i was floored as a Brand new civic was selling for 13k a 3 year newer car and a totaly new body style. Hondas resale will be the best in a few years also the 2004-5 Accord coupes are Excelent cars and look good with the ground effects package added

Heya Kev! Nice to see you still exist on this earth ...
I bought my 4th Accord in november ... got the V6. I love it ...
Why do I keep buying Accords? Rarely do they need any real maintenance and when they do, it is cheap compared to the Acuras, Lexii, and Infinte $$. THey last a long time (got 240,000 out of my last one and it was still kickin butt when I sold it). They ride so well and look great. The 240 horses get my butt up to speed in a hurry ...
Anyhow, I hope you find something you will be 1/2 as happy with as I am with my Accord.
BTW: I paid $12500 for mine used ... its a 2000 model with low mileage (like 45k when i bought it).

Hey ya Ice...
I would be perfectly happy with the accord. No doubt, they last and retain value. My current '90 has 230k on it and never needed anything but normal maintainence, and a few repairs I caused in an accident.
Few cars can claim 230k without repair, honda is one of them. I mean compared to say a ford escort that needs repair every 230 miles
Currently my wife is pushing for the G35 Coupe....hehehheh
