Anyone know where I can buy a faceplate for a reciever?

Ok, here is my problem. You guys probably remember a few months back when I mentioned getting a Pioneer P6500 reciever. Anyway last night on the 4th I took a girl I've been dateing out to see Spiderman 2. We parked around the back of the building being that most of the spots were full in the front. I have never had a problem with theft here. I have parked here for years. No one in my family has ever had this problem where we live being that it is a very small place. I also figured, who would look at an 89 Nissan Sentra as prey for theives. I forgot to lock the jocky box, and left the faceplate on the reciever. I usually don't do this but we were in a hurry and where we live people rarely even lock their doors. I made sure to lock mine and she apparently forgot that you have to lift up on the handle while closeing the door in order to lock the door. So, we walked out of the theater and walked around the corner. She got in the car and I wondered how she got in while I was unlocking my door. We sat in and she noticed that a 12 pack of Root Beer we spotted was gone and mentioned it to me. Then we noticed the jocky box was open. Then I looked to see in horror what was one of worst things that they could have taken. My Pioneer P6500 faceplate. Now, how did they do this? Well, these models have a removeable face so that you can stick the face in your pocket. The unit itself will not function unless you have the face itself and likewise for the face. One will not work at all without the other. What was strange is that they didn't take the unit or a large metal case full of CD's that was under the seat. Actually, the took one CD which was my least favorite of my collection which I had only bought a few weeks ago. I also didn't keep any money inside the vehicle. My money stays in my front pocket.

Sorry for the long storry but this really sucks. Why? Because I have no idea if there is any way I can get my hands on a faceplate for this model.

Now, they might get away with it, if they have the faceplate if Pioneer or who ever they go to, to order the unit looks at the person with the faceplate as the owner because he has the key.

Or they could look at it this way,

I have the unit inside my car and they may figure that if someone took the unit, they may not know what faceplate to fit with the unit. It is also far less expensive to replace a faceplate than a unit. Anyway, does anyone know how I can just buy a faceplate for the unit that I still have within my possesion?

Also note that I did file a police report after it was discovered and I have the serial number and the name and number of the officer that came over to investigate the situation.

i'll look around the hood for you, but that model isn't real popular. you also might wanna try ebay or even contacting pioneer, they may be able to help you if you can prove you own the unit with a receipt or something.

Thanks guys. This will really help. Well sadly, I discovered the theif apparently stole a lot more than I thought. When I got home yesterday, I started to look around for some of my rock cd's and I couldn't find them. Then I remembered that I had taken several of my favorites and placed them inside a single case. Then I remembered that my Paul Oakenfold CD was laying on the floor and it too was inside this case. What surprises me is that whoever did this didn't simply clean me completely out. Apparently they didn't know what techno was

Sadly the CD's they got were:

Thousand Foot Krutch (Man this is a good CD. It's also hard to find.)

Van Halen Greatest Hits (My other favorite.

P.O.D. Payable On Deat (didn't care as much about this.

Linkin Park Meteora (Was pretty good but the first was better)

Earshot Two (I didn't really like this album. It was ok but not great)

Anyway, this has inspired me to put in a totally new and unique anti-theft device for my car before I install any more car stereo. I will also install a car alarm or at least look into a new system for locking the doors.

However, my unique system involves some knowledge I have gained through a science fair. I and a few others did some experiments with some electrical wireing and guess what? The door handles happen to be great conducters.

I won't do enough to do any real damage to the theif but enough to tell him that I don't like people I don't know takeing stuff out of my car.
