I am curious as to what exactly people here think terrorism is. Especially people on the right, but also people on the left. Lothar, Bash, all you others...you seem to use the word terrorism quite a lot. I'm just wondering how you guys actually define the word for yourselves.

Here's what Mr Dictionary says:

"The unlawful use or threatened use of force or violence by a person or an organized group against people or property with the intention of intimidating or coercing societies or governments, often for ideological or political reasons."

That comes pretty close to how I define it but I would add that it predominantly and intentionally targets a civilian population solely to instill fear and a sense of insecurity.

Terrorism:

American adventurism in the middle east...

American military forces occupying arab lands...

Electing George Bush as president...

Need I go on?

Oh, and let's not forget the jewish conspiracy to take over the world using Mickey Mouse to send subconcious messages to jewish moles in every western government in the world!

I use it a lot, but I've also defined it a lot so that any regular E&C participants should know it by now.

Terrorism: Methods used by an elite subculture of towelheads from outer space, bent not on converting and/or killing infidels, but instead making sure that we place a McDonalds on every corner of Bangkok with nary a mexican in the kitchens thereof. The biggest thing is that terrorists target civilian populations in order to try to intimiate the populace. If these terrorists wanted to become more "legitimate" they would attack only military targets instead of taking cowardly pot shots at the general populace. It would take real dedication and balls to sucsessfully pull off an attack on a military base.

But of course the terrorists wont attack military targets, they wouldnt get glorified by Al-Jizzum or wtfe that arab news network is called. They'd just get the shiznat kicked out of them.
