D3 audio error

Recently I installed a Creative Sound Blaster Live! 5.1 surround sound card. Well, I tried to go into the audio settings for D3 and change some things up, but it closes D3 and says

"D3Launch MFC Application has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."

I'd like to take advantage of some 3d sound, but this is holding me back :( Does anyone know what my prob is or what I should do?

BTW I'm on Windows XP Pro.

i have that same card jesus....

have you tried downloading the sound card "client" from the creative website? its some patch that updates drivers and has some configuring utiliy with it. when you get it, play around with the sound settings.

i had that same problem and when i dled the "patch" it solved my probs....

here's the link...you'll have to scroll down and get the LiveDrvUni-Pack under the drivers section.

Uninstall the drivers from your old card. Reboot, then instal the drivers for SB card.

thanks!

Thanks guys! It's all working great now.

Does anyone know which is best to use for D3, directsound 3d or Creative EAX?

OK for some reason directsound 3d doesn't sound right. The AB and energy recharge stations sound muffled, and the stuff going on around me doesn't sound loud or soft enough according to the relative distance. Can I fix that? Creative EAX has a MAJOR echo problem that I don't want.

neither :D

but in XP direct soudn is best as EAX is weird.

Descent3's 3d sound implementation sucks.

use direct sound then in d3 switch it to low quality, 95% of the artifact(clips clicks blah blah blah...) sounds in outrage's format disappear.
