d3server problems...I am at wits end...any help

Hello, I miss playing Descent and with PXO not working I am trying to find another way. I downloaded d3server...it seems to load the level and says it was successful at that and then the cursor goes to an hourglass and the program seems to freeze at that point. I have forwarded ports 2092, 2093, 80, 27900 clicking both TCP and UPC (or whatever it is). Since this did not work I read on a thread here that all one needs is to make a gamespy file that looks to direct the program to descent.cx and two others. The thread indicated that all I needed to do what start the program and put in the misc. command line gspyfile gspy.cfg and the program will automatically show on descent.cx. It does start, but it does not show.

Anyone have ideas? Or perhaps time to walk me through this on the chat? Let me know....I have to mid afternoon and late this evening. Thanks

Er... D3server is for hosting dedicated servers...

So if you want to actually play, use kquerey or something. If you want to host a dedicated server, there does seem to be some issues where a tracker wont show games hosted on the same computer. D3 server probably isnt the problem.

Remove all but port 2092 from your forwarding.

Check Multiplayer forum for ways to connect to games and play.
