Gag me

Hillary is speechifying and by her presentation you would think Kerry is the second coming. Along with her comment that "She knows a thing or two about health care" is enough to make me head for the pepto.

I think you obsess more about the DNC than actual democrats do. :P

I don't really give a rip about what's happening there. All I know is that three major networks are yabbering and providing live coverage from it 24/7, overriding the shows I want to watch.

Political conventions are merely political backscratching. There's really nothing to be gained by listening to politicians drone on, in the comfort of their like-minded peers, about their plans to revolutionize America. Suffice it to say, the conventions I'm really interested in are the debate ones. Yeah, I'd like to see Bush take on Kerry in a live, televised debate. Doubt it will happen, though, since Bush is horrid when he's not following the script and his campaign managers know it. Kerry wants a debate, but all the Bush camp can give is the typical snide retort.
CNN wrote:Bush campaign spokesman Taylor Griffin told CNN Thursday, "The Bush-Cheney campaign looks for a vigorous debate at the appropriate time. But John Kerry should finish the debate with himself first -- being on both sides of each issue."
That was back in April. But the campaign has a pattern of giving the same, tired excuse. Back in March,
BBC wrote:However, Bush campaign spokesman Steve Schmidt rejected Mr Kerry's proposal as hypocritical. [...] "John Kerry should finish the debate with himself."
The article added a secondary excuse that "a spokesman for Mr Bush rejected the proposal, saying Mr Kerry had run negative ads against the president."

We'll see what happens though. Just a few days ago, Kerry agreed to a debate run by an independent commission. There is still no comment from the Bush camp.

I enjoy the debates because I like watching both the candidates, each with a bead of forehead sweat, tearing into the issues and arguing back and forth. Watching Al "The Robot" Gore debate George "Um" Bush was perhaps the highlight of the 2000 election, in my opinion. Watching them "talk about issues" when surrounded by sycophants is scarcely more interesting than watching paint dry.

I'm looking forward to the Edwards/Cheney debate more then the Bush/Kerry.

Actually, Cheney/Kerry would be a pretty good one too, because then we would have the current "president" and the future president debating eachother. :P

Wood, you really are into self torture. I'd be scared to see all the whips and chains in your house. You are a self proclaimed democrat hater, yet you love to watch and listen to all things democrat. Hell, lately I wonder if you've turned down limbaugh in favor of sweet hillary ;)

Y'know, it's times like this when I really appreciate the British parliament. People yelling out of turn, boo'ing, shouting insults. Not at all like the sycophantic system we have.

If congress debated the same way Parliment did, I bet C-Span would be one of the highest rated cable channels ever. Parliment is really entertaining some times.
