if you want to frag programs, its via the task manager.

which you should be able to get to using ctrl-shift-esc and ctrl-alt-del.

I can't use Ctrl / Alt / Delete.

When I press it nothing happens.

How can I get that function back?

Are you actually holding all three keys down? Have you tried plugging in another keyboard?

How do you correct the problem your pic showed.

I can find the Taskmgr.exe which is what I want to open when I use Ctrl/Alt...... and can open it by clicking on it but I would like the keyboard shortcut to work. Any suggestions?

That's what I was afraid of.

Can I install over what I have now so I won't loose anything and just be able to repair?

Yes, but you'll still have to re-install all of the security updates. Honestly, I'd wait until Service Pack 2 is released...which will be sometime this month unless its been delayed. You never did answer my question though. Did you try using another keyboard?

EDIT: Are you using an account without administrator rights? You might not even have permission to run Task Manager. You can test this by right-clicking on your taskbar and clicking on Task Manager.

Check the article VaussBait posted, that's usually the problem. It could be that task manager is spawning somewhere that you can't see it, like in the corner.

Try right clicking on the TaskBar, select TaskManager and see if it comes up.
