Possibility of Pyros at the Chicago Lan

I have a new twist on my origami pyros: I've been making them into jewelry. Through a process that involves wood glue, silver paint, and magic, I have been able to turn an origami pyro into durable a little silver charm. They're not indestructable--you don't want to sit on them--but I have one on a silver chain that I wear as a necklace occasionally, and it holds up to the wear and tear from that just fine.

When I showed up at Stress' lan a couple years ago with origami pyros, they were a big hit and became impromptu tourney prizes. So I've been toying with the idea of bringing a couple to the LAN in Chicago in a couple weeks and donating them as tourney prizes, or giving them to people who do randomly cool things, or whatever. But it occured to me that pyros on necklaces is kind of... um... girly. I don't know that it would really appeal to anybody other than me.

So that's what I'm here to ask. I only have time to make a few, so I can't take orders, I'm just gauging the interest level. If you were hypothetically to win a little pyro... how would it be coolest? As a charm on a chain? Just by itself? In some other fashion?

Oh, and I can do the phoenix as well. Would anybody want one of those instead? (No magnums, sorry.)

I'll post pictures if I can find the camera... I don't know where it went. They're about an inch long from wing to wing, and look more or less like the origami pyros, except that they have a uniform silver coating and they are much sturdier.

[edit: found the camera.]

I think it'd be cool to just have one of those to put on my desk!

That's so cool! Thanks, Drakona! I'm sure they'll go over big however you decide to make them.

Oooh... I'm not sure I can make them small enough for earrings. That's a cool idea, though.

I don't think I'll sell them unless I can make enough that everybody that wants one can get one--I doubt I can finish more than about half a dozen before we have to take off for the LAN.

Sorry about the camera shake. That's the best out of about a dozen pictures... I guess small objects are hard to take pictures of. Use your imagination :D

Heh, that's only a tiny improvement. I think I will not become a professional photographer of small objects...

Does anyone know if little pewter (or the like) pyros are available for keychains? I try not to get too geeked out but that would be neat.

Girly? Only because it's silver. Make it larger and paint it bling gold and we've got 80's gold neclaces all over again. ;)

If you could chrome one, I'd stick it on my scoot...maybe right atop the headlight housing.

That'd be rad dude. I love the 80's. Make it a gnarly gold and I'll be first in line. Righteous!

Drak, try running the strap across your right hand, under the camera and wrap the rest of it in your left hand until its taunt. Then hold the camera with both hands and take the picture. It'll be alot better. :) (I used to have that same exact problem.)

Chances are she's just trying to take pictures too close for the macro focus to handle. Back off a bit and resize it if it's too small.

Don't obsess over the pictures, folks. You will not run into a finer <0.5" homemade oragami pyro made anywhere else in the world.

Please relalize these sculptures are a labor of love and not a laser-engineered figurene. i.e. they look handmade and are all the more precious because of it. I value mine more than any other LAN prize I have ever recieved.

Furthermore, if I had Lothar's abs, Drak probably would have married me instead. I trust you're all familiar with the Oragami nude Genghis sculptii?
