So I was at BestBuy this evening and they had a BFG 6800GT OC sitting on the shelf selling for $400. Now, my 9700Pro is getting kinda long in the teeth and I'm thinking this card would make Doom3 (and HL2) run silky smooth.
Problem is, the card is $400. I have $400, but I can't bring myself to justify paying that much for a video card. I don't know what to do, on one hand I want Doom3 to look sweet, on the other hand, spending $400 is a boat load of money.
Well, you can always pick up the box and open an end of the box and put it back on the shelf. You might save a few dollars that way....but just don't do it with anyone around.
The local BB puts the actual product on the shelf, but lashes a buff security device around the box with some serious cableing. Bring your wirecutters.

Haha, thats a funny statement. The 9800Pro and the 9700Pro are so close in performance I find it hard to believe that yours "eats doom3 for breakfast." The only cards capable of doing that right now are the X800 series from ATI and Nvidia's 6800.
Why would I buy a 9800 Pro when I already have a 9700 Pro? That would be equal to going from a northwood P4 at 3.2 to a prescott p4 at 3.2. Why bother?
