i've got a asus k8v deluxe, i (probably stupidly) used the auto update function to get the latest bios version, downloaded it, rebooted the computer and.......nothing, absolutely nothing.
it powers on, the keyboard and mouse light up, but nothing else. it won't even recognize the floppy when i insert it and reboot. tried hitting alt+f2 but nada, zilch zero.
the only other thing i did prior to this was get the latest nvidia drivers but after reboot, worked like a charm.
ideas?

well, that was strange. i unhooked everything, cracked the case, cleaned out some dust bunnies, hooked it all back up, and lo and behold, she's running. AND it's got the new BIOS update i downloaded. weird!

When you update your BIOS,you MUST turn off your PC not just reboot it.

Sometimes it helps to unplug the PSU from the wall outlet for a few minutes..

because a softboot doesnt power the BIOS chip down and prepare it for flashing
