Laptop keyboard problems

Hello everyone, I got me a pickle of a problem:
My laptops keyboard has lost some of its functionality. Several letter keys, number keys, and function keys no longer work. I took the keys off and looked at the mylar sheets that have the printed circuits and several circuits are broken by corrosion. Apparently some water got into it somehow. They laptop is not under warranty anymore. Do I have any options other than replacement of the entire laptop? I can still use the laptop fine, provided I have a PC keyboard to plug into it, but that is not acceptable for portability. Would electrically conductive tape or film do the trick perhaps? How much does that stuff cost and where do I get it? Other than that, what hope do I have of restoring functionality to this keyboard?
