So.....Is texas holdem as big in your town as it is in mine? What with all the espn coverage and the world series of poker...
I play with friends on monday night.
But I'm in laughlin right now, hammered in my hotel room typing on the dbb from a sidekick..
I played in 2 poker tournaments tonight..they lasted hours..it was tight...I'm down 400 bucks for the night...that was not tight...in fact that sucks...but the tournament was sweet anyway...
Peace!

I usually play one or two times a week. We used to be strictly Texas until about a month ago. Now we play dealer's choice and hope for the best.
Ever play Anaconda? That game is crazy... 7 cards face down. Bet, pass 3 to the left, bet, pass 2, bet, pass 1, choose your best five and discard the other two, put those five in a face down stack. Everyone flips their top card, bets, the next card, bets, the next, etc.

Omaha is fun also.
Friday nights have kinda turned into poker nights for the guys...sometimes I go sometimes I don't. Didn't go last night, but probably next week.

I hate Omaha... I always wind up with a straight draw or a flush draw in the hole. Pisses me off when the best hand I can make is a 5-4 off-suit on a 5-4-3-2 hand.

What is texas holdem? I figure it's some flavour of poker...

It is a variety of poker, made very popular by series on ESPN (World Series of Poker) and the Travel Channel (World Poker Tour). I can't give you all the specifics, but each player starts out with two cards. After bets are placed, 3 community cards, called the "flop," are laid down. If play continues, a fourth and fifth community card are laid down. Basically, the player tries to get the best hand between his/her own two cards and the community cards. If the community cards have the best hand, no one wins the hand. It's surprisingly entertaining to watch on TV

Sorry, it sounds about as fun as watching round-the-world yacht racing on TV. I think I'd rather have my nads waxed!

Every Monday night, tournament once or twice a month.
We used to play dealers choice, but we started accumulating to many players to play many of the other games. Thus texas Hold'em has become our staple game.

I can't stand open-wheel racing, but I love NASCAR. Probably because you can trade paint without automatically destroying both cars

Actually, car racing in general seems rather boring and pointless anyway. Real races involve bikes, running or swimming.

i see no difference between a bike and a car as far as a race goes...the running and swimming are different though
Motor sports rule...but i dont play motor sports on monday , i play texas holdem.
im back at work now...but man those 20 dollar buy in tournaments with a ton of people goin for 2 hours all trying to knock each other out for the 2,000 dollar pot was pretty cool...
When you get knocked out of the tournament, the pit boss yells "Man Down!"...it was cool to hear..until it was you he was talking about

Real men don't screen names like ThunderBunny. Real men use names like AceCombat and KodeKeeper.

And other card games where there is no betting, but I don't know their names in English.

The race itself is boring. It's the crashes people watch it for. Come on, admit it. You watch it for the horrendous 200mph crashes.
