Ok, this is what I need to do.

Setup a server to download email from another server across the Inetrnet for different accounts. Then, I want the computers on the LAN to get their email from that server and send mail to the internet server. Is it possible to do this and what software do I need?

Linux baby :) Gonna take some reading but the proggy's are send mail and fetch mail. During the fetch mail process you can have the mail delivered to the user account name on the LAN - send mail will act the same way in reverse.

Ick. I think that's going to be difficult. The only way I can think of is by installing Exchange on the server.

What are you trying to accomplish by pulling mail from that server?

Just get an old piece of crap 486 box and throw Linux on it and run fetchmail. As far as sending mail, let the SMTP server of your ISP do that. Some ISP's will reject mail that was not sent from your own ISP's SMTP mail server.

This is what I'm planning to do at my house.
