Can't delete a Favorites shortcut.

I have some files I want to delete. One in particular is a Favorites shortcut explorer file that was backed up onto this computer from another one one my local network.

No I want to clean things up but I can't delete the file. It says that Windows can't find the file and that it may already been moved or deleted.

How can I delete it?

rename the extension or completely rename the file. If its only a shortcut just rename it then try deleting it.

Can't rename or delete.

Unfortunately, the Favorites shortcut is not in the "Favorites" folder any more.

Here's my problem if you can follow it. I have two computers backed up to each other.

I backed up computer 2 to computer 1. Then I backed up computer 1 to computer 2.

At that point I have the Favorites from computer 2 backed up to computer 1 and then when I backed up to computer 2 I backed up the "backed up" files.

And it says it can't find it and I can't rename or delete it.

I even tried to "Shred" the recycle bin with no success.

I was able to solve the problem by using the DOS command "deltree".

It's one you have to be careful of because it will delete everything if you don't type it correctly.

Anyway, all is well and thanks for the posts.

DELTREE is spiffy when used on the root of C:\ in conjunction with a wildcard such as *.*
