CONCORD, N.C. - A custom motorcycle builder known for his appearances on cable's Discovery Channel died Monday after crashing during a weekend stunt at an arena in Cabarrus County.

"Indian Larry" was appearing at a three-day motorcycle event at the Cabarrus Arena and Events Center, the Liquid Steel Classic and Custom Bike Series.

A crowd of about 8,000 was watching him perform a stunt Saturday in which he stood on the seat of a moving motorcycle, when the bike began to wobble and he was unable to regain control of it, said Mike Downs, the county's deputy manager."

A real shame :(. I saw him on a few Discovery Channel shows, including one episode of Monster Garage. He and Jesse James together was pretty funny. He also had a guest appearance on Letterman a few months ago. Whatever you say about him, he wasn't an idiot. Ho's done this sort of trick riding for years, and he had exceptional riding skills. The motorcycle world lost a great one.

American Chopper and Monster Garage are two of the best shows EVER! Its a shame when this sort of thing happens.

Is he the dude with the huge mustache who is always yelling at his son?

No, that's Paul Teutel from "American Chopper." Indian Larry had long hair and a ton of tattoos.

his most recognizable feature was the paragraph of text he had tattood on the fron tof his neck...

He was a favorite amongst the hardcore harley crowd because his bikes were always hardcore..Instead of being flashy they were like..old school circa 70's bikes n sht.. Monkey bars, sping front ends nsht..

i like matt hotch bikes personally....but ya...sucks for his friends and family....

RIP

Before you vilify the guy too much, just remember he has been doing that stunt for 40 years.

how many of the "what an idiot, he deserves a Darwin award" crowd were cheering last time someone posted a stunt riding / driving video here? Yet a guy who's been stunt-riding for decades dies doing a stunt, and you think he's a Darwin award candidate? Please...
