Need a PDA to do the following...

Post by Pun »

I dont need anything fancy at all. I'm trying to stay away from fancy phones. I dont want a phone, I want a PDA. Something that will be as easy to use as a palm with a modem in it.

I need to:

-keep a contact list
-keep appointments
-send and recieve emails without having to use the PDA in conjunction with a phone or cell phone.
-plug a portable folding keyboard into it.

I dont need anything else. What should I buy? Cheap, simple and reliable.

i use a psion mx5 pro now for years. doesnt look nice and no colours, but its a hell of a working maschine, more like a mini-pc with keyboard. cf-card slots up to 512mb, irda /seriel, the usual stuff like word and excel style programs, contacts and agenda, browser (opera5), email, database, build in programing language, tons of software for everything.
and battery lifetime is counted in WEEKS even if you use backlight often, not hours like usual for the pdas.

two problems with that thing thou, they dont sell it anymore and its hard to get one on ebay cause if you have one, you dont give it away ;)

Get a zaurus

It does all you want and more. Keyboard I'm not sure about. I know you can use an IR keyboard and I think I heard of an adaptor for plugging a keyboard into its sereal/docking port. It does have a little keyboard built in which I find works great. With email, you can get a wifi card and then you are set! Also has the opera web browser.

sorry, been out of town.

I guess I should rephrase.

Does anyone know of a palm OS device with a built in modem that is available new? Palm OS or something equally as simple. I dont need spreadsheets and all that other stuff. I just want to plug a little folding keyboard into it and be able to send, recieve emails without a bluetooth phone or having to connect to with wi fi. If there's cellular signal, I want to be able to send.
