WoW eats my brain

Anyone else in the World of Warcraft stress test this weekend? I've never MMORPG'ed before, and I probably won't after this test is over... this is way too addictive.

When your character learning how to make campfires is cause to get excited, you know something's seriously f***ed.

I've only played one MMORPG and I'm glad to say it is also my last. I've felt the addiction.

There is a lot to be said about a game you can pickup for a few hours and put down just as quick.

Sorry for necropisting, but I can't let this go past without comment.

Anyone on the Horde PvP around level 50? My 52 rogue is bored out of her skull and is rapidly falling out of love with the game as her friends list dissappears into the void.

Thats not necroposting, that bumping. If it was a month, it'd be close. Past that, its necro.

What's the highest level monsters in this game?

phoenix - im in a PVP horde guild, if you want in, talk to my character; valratta.

the guild is new on horde side (it was originally an allie guild), so the highest lvl perosn right now is only about 32, but we're rapidly lvling up.

Highest lvls I've seen belong to the NPCs, who you can fight if you're part of the opposing faction. Players are capped at 55 right now (and it will be 60 or 65 @ release), NPCs go as high as 95.

actually, thrall is level 100 i believe, and cairne bloodhoof is level 99. other "epic" NPCs are in the upper 90's area as well.

Next patch raises the level cap to 60, which is the retail cap. Who knows what hero classes will bring and how much additional playtime will be required to finish a character though.

I will track you down Verty.

edit: what was your guild name when it was *coughtsilverplatterfactioncough* alliance?

I find it very amusing that I just today got a WoW Beta test invite.

I can remember when I really wanted to get in, but now the mere thought of playing another MMORPG is just depressing.

Deleted!

I'm in the second round too. =)

Only reason I got in was because I have a friend who works at Blizzard.

So is WoW going to be a cool game? Last winter, I was really into a Neverwinter nights PvP mod called Bastions of War. What do you think Jmeat? We could only take our characters to lvl 40 I think.

Somewhere I picked up the idea that there won't be charges for WOW. You get online access with purchase of the game. Is that right?

Will I be able to have fun playing it even though I've never played Warcraft or will I be forever doomed to lameness due to ignorance?

Nope, won't be free. Since it's centralized servers that Blizzard will have to pay to maintain, players will have to pay a monthly fee. According to the WoW FAQ, they haven't settled on a price, yet. I'd assume $10-15/month, but it all depends on how much they think they'll need and how much they think people would be willing to pay.

I will not be playing another MMORPG ever again. Sorry. :)

re: free, I'm assuming this rumor got started because Guild War, the MMOG currently being developed by some of the ex-Blizzard guys, will have a one-time fee.

I don't think I really understand what MMORPG entails. I vaguely remember when EverQuest became big, there was an article on it in Newsweek. I must have been playing Descent, because I thought EQ sounded incredibly candyassed.

I like team games. I thought there might be some good team pvp associated with WoW.

The last thing in the world I want is to feel like I'm really in a war, so war games are out especially war games that are like wars that have happened within my lifetime. For some reason Tribes is ok. The jetpacks and vehicles and such take the feeling of playing soldier out of it for me. I'm hoping Tribes V is good.
