How do you use a Microscoff PPro in WinXP?

I have an old Microsoft Precision Pro 3D joystick, not Force Feedback, but regular.

The software that it runs on won't install in WinXP.

There doesn't appear to be any support for it on any website.

Am I SOL, and have to buy a new Joystick, or is there a solution?

xp should autodetect the controler. if not go to system->gamecontrolers and add a "microsoft sidewinder autodetect"

that should work.

If its a gameport one, go into game controlers control panel and add a new controller "Microsoft SideWinder (Autodetect)", if it is USB just plug it in.

hey, while were on the topic, does anyone know of any software that works with the precision pro as far as letting you program the buttons?

mine works great.

XP has the old microsotf controller drivers included. I have been told that if it's not being seen, try looking in the BIOS and see if there is something that enables/disables the game port on the MB, or might be interfering with the soundcard gameport.

ummm....did you search Microsoft's Sidewinder site for the software?

/sarcasm off

If the version of the Sidewinder Software that microsoft has up doesn't work for you on XP, the version that came with the Precision 2 definately does.

I can ISO it if you have someplace for me to upload it ;)

I think I have the SW PP2 software disks around here somewhere in the basement, either I can ISO em and host on my FTP server or I can just mail them to you since I dont use the PP2 anymore.
