Im a noob on the subject of wireless networking. My boss is looking for a 500 ft wireless router so he can use the internet from his notebook. Can anyone reccomend me one?

what i would recommend doing is getting a wireless router, and installing a bigger arial on it.

Ok, but how far can these routers go? I see 1,300 ft. Is that the max?

Sometimes I browse these catalogues and they dont show the range. :x

Two Words: Parabolic Reflector.

It might also help if somehow you could aim said reflector so it has direct line of sight at his office or wherever, like, up and over the cubicles. Otherwise youre NEVER gonna get 500 feet indoors.

Among other things he wants a Caddillac with 50 MPG.

I found the D-Link AirPlus G High Speed, I think that should be enough. Office is small.

Indoor range will most always be less than outdoor range. Buy from a supplier with a good return policy. ;)

You could also make a cantenna. Coffee cans work great.
