Older machine troubles.

I gathered up a celly 400 system to play D2_3DFX on when the revival comes around. there's one problem with it though. when I try and use my 3dpro with it, it shows up as 'not connected'. So far i've tried the standard 'microsoft gameport' trick and that's a no go.
Celly 400
128MB SDRAM
440BX based mobo (seanix columbia 3 w/ onboard LAN)
Aureal Vortex2 (au8830 chip)
V5 5500
EDIT: Tried reloading the MS gameport driver on a hunch and looks like it works now.
