Help Getting MY Joystick To Work With D2X

Post by Sage »

I have an USB Thrustmaster Top Gun Afterburner II that I would love to play D2X with. I have downloaded all the SDL files for D2X, and Tyranny's joystick mega-pack (to help with axis configs). D2X runs just fine and dandy, but my joystick DOES NOT.

And I would like to fix it very much.

SIMPTUMS:
- When I leave the joystick centered it is still turning down and to the left.

- When I try to move the stick, it responds, but when I move the stick out to the edge (as far as it can go) it stops responding all together.

This has been posted before, and I have used the search feature with no luck. Maybe it was on the old DBB?

Any help will be rewarded with something but I don't know what it is yet.

1. Its spelled symtoms.
2. You need to actually calibrate your joystick.

Thanks moderiter! I have already calibrated my joystick several times and it still doesn't want to work.

Thanks for your reply though, I know you are trying your best and you are special. Keep trying!

It's spelt SYMPTOMS. :p

Try removing the USB hubs in control panel/system/hardware device manager. Then reboot.

MD, get your spelling right if you're gonna be a spelling nazi. :P

"Spelled" and "spelt" are both proper past tense forms of the verb "to spell", however.

ooooookay, the last time I checked this was the DBB ★■◆● w/ Mobi Forum, not the DBB Spelling Nazi Wars wars forum.

Ahh sheeyat and I just took a hammer to my sidewinder out in the driveway. dam. oh well, it might be possible to get this joydick to work...?

It works FINE in Descent 3 (and Descent 4 for that matter HARHARHAHR..), so the problem lies deep within the f8cked up code that is D2X... and D1X...

Just for shits sake, do you have the -joypolled toggle set in your d1x.ini file in the descent directory?

Well, I didn't even have a d1x.ini, but I made one and set the toggle, and it didn't do anything. :\

Bubba, he shouldn't have to. My Saitek Cyborg Evo works fine in both D1X and D2X.

Try messing with the deadzone- increase it a little bit- that should fix it. (within descent)
