The Great Debate

Well it's time. I've got my brie cheese and crackers, white wine and noise makers in preparation to watch THE DEBATE. I'm am eagerly awaiting Kerry to break the rules and lose his cool. Already Kerry has objected to the audiance seeing the timer light that shows when either one of the debaters goes over the allotted time limit. What else might set ole Kerry off?
Well I'm off to snuggle into my easy chair and get into this big event. Tally-ho!

Well right off the bat Kerry can't answer how he will make the country safer.

Bush wins first question

by Avder
And Bush cant even get through the consoling florida part without an akward pause.

And he basically said about as much nothing as Kerry.

Bush speaks as if Afghanistan is won. Its not. He did have a few good but irrelivent points on freeing Iraq.

Kerry made a good point that bush has basically distracted away from Osama by going after Saddam so hardcore.

IMO, Kerry wins question two.

Second question goes to Bush Also. Too bad Kerry is talking to the moderator and not the audeance.

On Q3:

Mr Kerry, What would you have done differently?

Mr Bush, what are you going to do about Osama?

Oh neat, Q4 deals with it.

I feel like I'm watching the DNC and the RNC all over again. Back to the intarweb.

Kerry's fidgety and a little too grab-pencil, drink-water, bobble-head animated. After a cold start, Bush seems much more relaxed and confident in his answers than Kerry. I wonder if these guys get drug tested post-debate.

Kerry loses 3rd question...OBL may very well be in Pakistan.

Posted: Thu Sep 30, 2004 7:19 pm
by woodchip
Kerrys losing 4th question. He forgets he (Kerry) voted against 87 million to supply troops so they could have state of the art material.

Posted: Thu Sep 30, 2004 7:20 pm
by Avder
Q4:
Rofl... "Of course were after saddam Hussein..."

Mr Bush, what is your plan to win Iraq? Some good points tho. What plan did you just outline?

Mr Kerry, again, what would you have done differently? Youre saying the same thing as you did in Q3. Ok, get the allies involved.

Draw.

Q5:

Mr Kerry, Good points on the supposed sacrifice of stuff here in favor of stuff in Iraq and tax cuts for the wealthy, but please expand on your plans.

Mr Bush, good rebutal but: Offense is great, but if we shoot down some drug loard in the mid east, that dont mean ★■◆● if Mr. Johnsons hosuse is on fire and the fire department cant get there because they closed down last year.

Kerry takes this one by a hair.

Q5 Kerry belives being defensive is more important while Bush belives in a good offense. Bush has answered Kerrys supposition though at the end Bush sounded a little defensive.

Posted: Thu Sep 30, 2004 7:26 pm
by DCrazy
Avder, you're forgetting that the federal government doesn't control things like the fire department. That's a completely local thing.

Kerry's playing up the domestic benevolence image, but everyone's concerned with foreign policy. "$200 billion... money that could have gone towards education, etc..." Except that the federal government currently has no say in these sorts of things, so your point is moot, Mr. Kerry. I really wish what I said wasn't a meaningless collection of bits on an Internet forum.

Q6:

Bush: How will a free Iraq help Israel or us directly?

Kerry: Good point on the lack of an exit strategy, but, once again, whats your damned plan? Points taken for that cheezy DNC catch-phrase. Also, you voted for that damned war.

They both lose.

Q6 Kerry loses. Says help is on the way but voted against funds.
Bush's response kills Kerry. Q6 to Bush
Oh no, Kerry brings up Vietnam...he's starting to lose it.

Vietnam! Everyone take a drink!

DCrazy, the Feds could sure help by tossing out some block grants to cash strapped states.

Vietnam! *drinks*

Haliburton! Everyone take a drink!

Q7 to Bush. UN was in Iraq until they were bombed. Kerry sends sister to Australia where she puts down existing prime minister. Kerry brings up Halliburton, another dumb statement. Why should we be giving contract to countries who don't help out with security?
The UN members got enough oil for food blood money so they don't need any more contracts.

Man, a guy could get killed drinking on these hot words :P

Bush's theme so far is "I know how this is, i see how this is" blah blah, Kerry so far is "B ush is wrong wrong wrong".

They should just start bi+chslapping eachother. Would be both more productive and entertaining.

So far it's entirely Bush saying he is doing a good job and Kerry saying Bush is doing a bad job. But we're not hearing how Kerry would have done it differently. Just that he would do it *better*.

Posted: Thu Sep 30, 2004 7:39 pm
by woodchip
Avder, you are right about Kerry always finding fault with Bush. Too bad he can't tell us how he can do better.

Kerry blunders again by saying Iraq war is why OBL states we are at war with muslums. Funny...on 9/11 we weren't in Iraq.

Posted: Thu Sep 30, 2004 7:43 pm
by Avder
God help me, I agree with you chipper.

Bush completely misunderstood when Kerry said that Osama uses the Iraq invasion as a recruiting tool.

And Bush goes into waffe-pointing mode.

Bush is dancing around Kerry's inconsistencies. Double drinks if he actually says flip-flop.

And more laughable when the US was attacked before, more than once.

I never want to get into a Charades game or phisting contest with Kerry.

He's said 'changing positions' abotu 50 times.

From my standpoint, neither one of em are really answering the questions. I assume this is normal for debates of this type? (this is the first one ive really watched with some interest)

Uh oh, Lehrer just asked Kerry about his oft-mentioned plan for Iraq! Lets watch teh fun!

Kerrys plan was changing dynamics on the ground. Bush brings up how Kerry bad mouthed Allowi. Bush wins. What number question is this? "Hic"

Posted: Thu Sep 30, 2004 7:58 pm

Oh no Kerry wanted another resolution from the UN regarding Iraq...hahahahaha!

Posted: Thu Sep 30, 2004 8:00 pm
by Avder
Kerry is right that more diplomacy was nessecary, but hes dead wrong on asking for it from the UN. It should have been a country to country matter where Bush was sending out his best delegates or himself going.

The UN is gonna do anything? Thats the funniest thing ever.

What debate are you watching Woody? I havent seen Bush "win" a single point yet. Maybe you should lay off the booze before deciding how to use your vote. :P
