Joystick button mapping software?

I wonder if anyone knows of a good program that would allow me to map my controller buttons to keyboard keys? Microsoft has cleverly rendered the 3D Pro and Precision Pro software inoperational in WindowsXP; I've even tried the Precision 2 software, but it doesn't do anything for the earlier sticks. I'd like something just like it, though. Thanks!

i use a joystick emulation program called PPjoy.

i'm not sure if it can remap a CURRENT joystick to a virtual joystick, i'd need to plug my joystick back in to test it out.

i just use it to map my VR-Glove as a virtual joystick.

hmm, try it as a last option, i bet there's things better suited for what you want to do.

Thanks, but I don't think that's what I'm looking for.

I'll look into that, Kurupt, thanks.

It's for Descent 2.

DESCENT2 ? ? ? ? ? What hokey commands are trying to enable on the Keyboard in D2(which you can do without any external program)

You use MACRO's in Descent...whore! If that is the case SOL in D2....go build a 98 Machine

Yeah, maybe that'd be the best solution. Thanks.

I just downloaded a program that did the trick! I can play Descent2 with my Descent3 config now!! :D

I just map the hat switch to the arrow keys (actually the NumPad keys 4,8,6, and 2). Joystick Cursor Control Tool 1.0

I have no problems with a 3d Pro any any version of windows...95/98/ME/2K/XP none...

So really what are you doing and why: mapping hat keys to the keyboard or visa versa. makes no sense...unless you are binding MACRO's

Well, I have my controls configured to play a taunt and/or shoot a flare every time I switch sliding directions. You ought to try it, it makes for a very unique Descenting experience!

P.S. Not really. Sliding with the hat in D2 is very sluggish (at least for me) for some reason, sliding with keys isn't.

Well I have a dedicated 8 way hat on my throttle that is only taunts. I do not even have to think about them... just throw out taunts on the fly...
so yeah I know what you mean. Yet I can load a different Descent profile into my throttle for team games. Then using the same hat with CTRL-F8 binds and text macros on top of the standard CTRL-1-8 taunts
