WHile in burning indica, my joystick started acting oddly on the twist function which I use for rolling,

When i turn it right, it works fine, when i turn it left, half the time it acts like its being turned the other way for the first instant, and half the time it works normally.

I presume this is some sort of mechanical breakage, is there any chance that I could fix it myself, I do not have the money to buy a new one, and if i cannot fix it myself, I will have to do without the twist to roll function, which would be a pain.

Sounds like the jerking problem of a Logitech Freedom 2.4 or 3D Pro. The pots are starting to give out, time for a RMA, sorry. If you can't get it returned to the store, call Logitech -- they will replace it if you got it less than a year ago.

Here's the thing....if it is a POT issue, its easily fixable. All it is, is a large generic 50k ohm pot that you can get from Radio Shack for like a dollar. All that would be required is some very light soldering. If you're not comfortable with that sort of thing, ask your neighbor(s).

Its a Thrustmaster Top Gun Fox 2 Pro.

That same thing happened to my Wingman Force 3D; shortly after, the entire thing went kaput. Suffice it to say, I'm not planning on buying another Logitech .

Please tell us what make and model stick you have.

Have you tried reducing the stick-twist deadzone from 0 to 0.05 or something? That might make a difference. The Logitech 2.4 and 3D Pro use digital potentiometers, which are most pointedly NOT available from Dick Smith at $1 each. I could not identify the make or model of pot when I reviewed the 2.4 Freedom - at http://planetdescent.com/d3help/freedom.shtml

Logitech (and most other brands of stick) are returnable, sometimes even outside the warranty period if you kick up enough of a stink. (I've had 5 Freedom 2.4s - and paid for only 1!)

Already said the type though, it is a "Thrustmaster Top Gun Fox 2 Pro".

Had a look inside and it does look like a potentiometer, but its a rather small one with a particular shape that the rest of the top of the joystick seems to sit on.

Hmm, on looking at the pictures, the sensor does look pretty much exactly like the digital one shown. Is there anywhere where I could get a replacement from?

On the other hand, I could also save up and get one of these Logitech Freedom 2.4 wireless ones, spotted a NZ place selling them for $125.

Some of us have been down the route of buying cheap joysticks, after a couple of returns... well... we stopped being CHEAP bastages. And bought quality

CH Products was my choice and was well worth it, and yes they sell replacement parts, not that I have needed any. My first one I ever owned I gave away (7 year old CH Combatsick (Gameport))to a budding Descenter/Simmer.

It is worth what you pay for!

Thrustmaster HOTAS is another choice
