Don't know about 98, but try the latest WingMan version available at Logitech
here. In XP you actually don't need the software, maybe someone could confirm if it's the same w/ 98 ? If you're going to use it, set the range of motion for X&Y to 70% and get rid of the deadzone.

Use SFC and extract the file from your Win 98 CD to your Windows/system folder.
How to extract files

you dont need to extract the file, just point the installation routine to your win98 cd, /win98 folder.
the base6.cab archive is in there.

You should save cab files in a folder called "XP Disk" or something like it---for just such an ocurrence. Beats searching for a disk or waiting a day or two to get it from someone....got any friends on an Instant messaging service? they can maybe send you them if you need em right away.

Your way of doing things is quite annoying, and is more likely to generate animosity than help around here.

Max, copy the cab files to your HDD in a marked folder that you can point to----doesnt matter what Operating Sys u use.

Point it to either C:\Windows\System\ or C:\Windows\System32\ and it should pick everything up. It may ask you for the location of other files, just try both dirs.
