Released: New Descent 3 Patch

http://www.descent3.com/patch/D3_1.4_Patch.exe

I dunno about you but I'm sick of newbies not being able to patch the game.

This one simple exe file will patch your game to version 1.4 with the nocd crack. It performs no checks before it runs, which means it CAN'T FAIL (yeah yeah I know).

If anyone has any problems with it, inform me.

Nice, thx. I'll refer future newbies to that.

Edit: looks like you forgot the 1.4 readme file..
Edit2: n/m :)

try extracting it rather than running the exe. you get an error message in german.

Does this work with the black pyro expansion pack? I've still never gotten it, was thinking about it, but not if I have to use the CD...

It doesn't install merc for you but it should work if merc is installed.

In what way?

How is making a program that applies already-existing patches a hack?

I just uploaded a new version that should work for European versions and the US version.

Thanks for your help!

You think Everyone F*&^ing stupid?

the "yeah yeah I know" was referring to the fact that "IT CAN'T FAIL" is an obvious lie.

EDIT: I highly doubt it's illegal.

Doubt or not, it's intentionally modifying the exe - and that's breaking the EULA.

who cares. i'm sure no one is making money of off d3 anymore...or even if they are it's gotta be such a tiny amount. or not.

While I personally do not have a problem with this "patch", Bubba is right

Of course, along the same lines, I can't submit this for hosting at PD, just as we don't host the no-CD crack.

Policy states that there are to be NO links to no-cd patches.

If you need it, ask Suncho for it. I'm not gonna let this board become liable for cracks.

Ya, Ferno made the right call. If you want to release it w/o the no-cd part suncho, i'll even sticky it for ya (-:

Wait...someone's been in contact with Kevin/Matt?

My thoughts exactly. Actually the no-cd shouldn't be a problem since it's built into the 1.5 patch already. If there's contact w/ Kevin, someone please ask about the 1.5 status and if he doesn't have time to do anything, ask if someone else could take over. I'd be more than willing to work on the PC side of it. I'm sure it would be equally easy to find a Mac and a Linux programmer. I'm not a big fan of conspiracy theories but I'd hate to learn the patch is suppressed because of some shrewd reason..

I sent an email some time ago asking if MSDS could lend any assistance but never got a reply...

I used it, it works now but when I first put it in I got an error that my pilot files were too old and I needed to delete them and create new ones? Well after I deleted them and created new ones it works fine now, just weird error though.

reopened huh.. Apparently I'm unfit to make a judgement call now.

Which version of D3 do you have woodi? Did you patch from 1.4 to 1.4? When did the message pop up? At the pilots screen? When you tried to join a game?

I have the duel jewel bundle [D3 with mercenary], it's been patched with the duel jewel fix and the 1.4 update. I got the error after hitting play on the launcher.
It is working fine now and the game kept most of my settings after I deleted all the plt files, [there were only 3 plt files].
I recreated the plt file and everything seems to work fine.

BTW Thanks Suncho for the patch.

The PC Windows version of the 1.5 patch is finished if I remember Kevin mentioning that before. It's the Linux port or Mac port, whatever, that held the whole thing up. I've already stated my frustration with that decision many times over.

Does anyone, and I mean anyone, have any sort of personal contact info for Kevin besides his e-mail, like an address or phone number? I don't want the community to look like stalkers, but I think it's about time that we got directly in touch with him and asked him, point-blank, if he will be able to continue work on the patch or not. If not, I know we have enough talent in the community to finish it up, so we could ask him to turn what he has done over.

There is no one in this entire community that has the answer to this question?
