Well i don't think it'll mean much to many here but a big chunk of my youth died today. I remember as a young teen listening to his newest finds late on a sunday night, laughing my head off at his ever so dry liverpuddlian sence of humour.

Thats about it really.
Cheers John.

WOW that sux, I spent almost every evening as a young teen listening to his show. For those who dont know John Peels show made many of the big alternative bands famous. His show was the only place to hear bands such as Bauhaus or The Jesus and Mary Chain. Always long before other stations or media "discovered" them.

Bands would play live for his show. The John Peel Sessions as they are known are well worth checking out.
Radio 1 Controller Andy Parfitt said:

"John Peel was a broadcasting legend. I am deeply saddened by his death as are all who work at Radio 1."

"John's influence has towered over the development of popular music for nearly four decades and his contribution to modern music and music culture is immeasurable."

and that is not an over statement.

Man, that sucks. I never had the pleasure of listening to Peel's show, but I've got lots of Peel Sessions CDs. The guy was a legend. RIP John.
