The BoSox have 11 players that are free agents. If you were one of these players would you go for more money and wind up on a non-contender team or would you take less money and remain on a world champion team?

Since I play to play, and not to win, per say, I'd take more money and play the best I could.
Initial reaction, anyway, I don't know if there are any additional monies involved with winning anyway, unless you are among the top 5 players on the team.
I'd also not be spending money hand over fist. It would mostly all get bankrolled for when I can't play any more. You would't see me with a $200,000 necklace or some such.

stay and win. The real difference between 20MM and 25MM is purely academic.

You guys need to follow Baseball a little closer. Guys like Pedro Martinez and the like will always go where the big money is regardless of if the team is a winnner or not.
Sure it would be cool if the BoSox could retain the core group they had this year, but it isn't very realistic. We'll just have to see what the winter brings and hope Theo Epstein and the other guys involved in dealing out the big bux make the smart moves in the offseason. My guess is they'll try their hardest to keep the important peices and not have a fire-sale like other teams do after winning a championship.

you need to read the question a bit closer. The question was whether we would stay or go, not whether we thought they would.

I hope they keep D-Lowe and Veritec.
I could care less if Pedro stays, he's days as an awesome pitcher are pretty much behind him.
