Subject: Whoa! Moose hits car in Ontario...

MOOSE STORY

The following pictures are of a moose that went through a car's windshield this month near South River, Ontario.

The VERY lucky woman driver ended up with just a broken wrist and needing a good bath.

When you view the pictures you will wonder how the woman managed to survive.

That, or she hit it in the legs and inertia took care of the rest.

Ice: Dude, wtf with the BW warning? If there had been a bunch pics that were 100kB each, I could understand...but not a one of them was over 60.

No Zero... I dissagree. It seems to me this is just another episode in the long sorted history of crack abuse that has infilterated the Moose community. Why hasn't the Canadian government addressed this travisty? WHY??!! i smell a cover up. It's wouldn't surprise me if they were actually Subsidising the whole thing..

Yes Zero .. Poor moose.. Poor Poor moose.

Wow Ice, that's just wild. That lady is very fortunate. People are killed here in the Northwest every year but hitting elk. They are about the same size when fully grown .. a bit smaller perhaps.

A Volvo wouldnt have fair much better, unfortunately.
This accident happened roughly 10min away from my folks place, and happens with surprising frequency in that region this time of the year. It's currently Hunting season on moose in that area, no doubt scareing some of em out onto the highways.

Worse, is the fact that when at night, their very dark coloring and non light-reflecting eyes make them nearly impossible to see until its too late.

i'll make the assumption that moose are like deer, they run towards the car, rather than away from it?

Nah, its those damned terrorists. One of them obviously spooked the moose into running infront of the car! ;)

boooo *slaps woody*

It could be something else hit it and it landed on the car as she was driving? I mean, neither the front nor the rear look like what most cars look like after running into an animal of that size. Also the position of it being directly on top of the car?

Almost looks like it was completely dropped straight down, lol.

It looks like the car hit it in the legs, then flicked it through the windshield.

Reminds me of an insurance company in Australia which had a huge number of claims froma very small town. The claims were all for Kangaroo damage. (Roos are bloody big - several hundred pounds - and if yous aw the latest Bathurst 1000 race - you'll know what damage a roo can do to a cra going 200+)

Anyway, they were highly suspicious so they dispatched their best investigator. He arrived in the town, and within 10 minutes of arriving had hit a wayward Roo at 100 km/h, almost destroying the small rental vehicle...
