It's 54k and you just drop it in the Acclaim\forsaken]opt folder. Then you chose it at launch.
Wow, this game has not aged well at all. The environments are quite ugly even at 1600x1200. The weapon effects are kinda' nice though. It's too drifty, just like I remembered it. Drifty imprecise controls for a game that sends a zillion projectiles at you at once. Oh yeah, loads of fun there.
It has a lot of ideas that wound up in Descent 3 though. Stationary turrets, roaming tank enemies, wind tunnels, and breakable props.
listen you a$$hats. This is a revival. no one is telling you that you have to play. Go sh}t in the ethics forum or something. Jesus... No one here really cares that you dont like this game if that is the case. Be content with subway dancer or BI3 for the rest of your 360 degree playing days. Yay!. Some of us are interested in some diversity, so that's why this is here.
I mean really. You guys see this thread titled. Forsaken revival. And you decide in that minimind of yours that ./. "hey, these guys wanna get together for some fun playing a different game. So I will mosey on in and proceed to SH|T all over the thread they are working in to organize that fun.. Im a big man!@ yay me" ? Is that it? pathetic....

They had to throw in their poor insults. Very typical of the Descent community.
The Singleplayer experience is alright. Definitely better than the horrific D3 campaign. However, multiplayer is the strong point of this game. And untill more of you actually try the multiplayer, I see little value in your generic opinions.
Gotta love when they admit they've played it for 3 MINUTES. OMG NO ONE GIVES DESCENT A TRY!1!!1314
Forsaken is the descent 1 engine.. with insane graphics compared to the orginal Descent. For it's time it was an awsome game ..hell 3/4's of the D3 Community are migrates from Fo-saken, D1/2 purists shunned D3 an anything elses to close to it, those types are seen above
We do still play this game over at KALI...so you guys spanking it over at gamesurege miss everything (isolationalists)

I had the same problem...try downloading and using the latest No-CD crack, that fixed it for me. I don't know if I can give out a link to it here, but hopefully you know where to look.

Sorry to nitpick here, but what exactly was so horrible about D3's singleplayer? In concept, at least, it was infinitely better than D1/2's "get keys, blow reactor, escape, repeat ad nauseam" formula. Outrage may not have made the most coherent levels, but at least they added some much-needed variation.
cire, you may have noted that this BB has a private messaging system, with PM links to each poster that is actually integrated right into each thread that they post in.
I apologize for being such an idiot. Anyway, back on topic, I installed the game, but I can't seem to figure out a way to invert the Y-axis (the menu command doesn't change anything). I also can't read text in certain menus, particularly off of the main screen. Also, there doesn't seem to be any support for a joystick throttle/twist axis, but I may just be missing it.
Edit: Some of these features may have been fixed by the patch, but I wasn't able to get it; a 57-minute wait at Fileplanet and registration required at Gamespot. Is it too much to ask for easy downloading these days?
Anyone w/ a no-cd patch link handy ? Note: according to the patch 1.01 readme, no-cd is build-in. Also the game is freely available. If you still think it'd be against DBB policy to post the link, please send me a PM. Thx.
Edit:

At least one of the DL links there works. First, apply the 1.01 patch if you haven't already, then apply the No-CD patch.
Can't help you on the "no pickup sound" bug, I get that myself. It's supposed to be a computer voice telling you what you got, and while the sound files are there and can be played in Windows, they refuse to play in game...
I spent about an hour last night looking for a radeon opt but no dice.
I was talking to someone in chat though and they said the rage one that is in there works for the radeons, but you have to use an older driver version?..
