New Jersey, desert, same thing right?
That is pretty stupid to put a school next to a firing range. It's one of those things where you wonder who was smoking what when they made some decisions.

Webster said he did not know what caused the gun to fire.
uh...maybe the pilot had something to do with that? You think?
I don't know why they even added that line. Use some common sense people. He was shooting at a target in the base while on a training exercise and he missed....BADLY. WTF do you think made the gun fire? Santa Claus?
The question isn't about what made the gun fire, because the answer to that is obvious. The question is how did the pilot miss so badly? I'm leaning towards the fact that the pilot is a retard but thats just me
oh, and nice thread title flabby. That'll get some attention

Tyranny, there is a little thing called mechanical failure. Before you lynch the pilot, wait for more info.

That's just bit up state for me. I'm surprised that everyone knows about it.
BTW, ever consider that at 600 miles an hour or whatever an F-16 flys at, that 3.2 miles isn't exaclty a lengthy ride? He coulda been off by ten seconds or something.

Top Gun, theres also something called sarcasm. Become familiar with it and you become familiar with me.
Note: It's often marked by a smiley face after it for those who can't figure it out =>
Besides, guns don't usually open fire at random without someone messing with them in the first place. Especially not a heavy vulcan mounted on a fighter plane.

Apparently "yee-haw" is now an acceptable approach to military training now

It's not too suprising that he missed really. He was about 7000 feet up. I don't know of any gun that has a great deal of accuracy beyond 1000 meters, let alone being able to SEE that far; even with the new imaging tech,

M-61 Vulcan has a good amount of range, considering how many bullets it fires in a single second.
20mm 6-barrels turning at APPX. 300 RPM = APPX 30-35 Rounds Per Second

I think the meens the accuracy of a single round.
