Seems for all of le frogs repugnance of our going to war in Iraq, they seem to be having their own problems:

"French troops deployed across Abidjan and took its airport during a weekend of anti-French riots. More than 410 people were hurt, the Red Cross said."

Whats a matter, not getting paid off to keep your beak out? So Mr Chirac, would you mind repeating why you think you are better than us?

What I think is funny is that the Ivory Coast's whole air force consisted of about two jets and five helicopters. :P When even the French can beat you, you know you're screwed. All joking aside, though, I'm hoping that at least some semblance of peace can be brought to this country, although that looks unlikely as of now.

P.S. Interesting fact: Ivory Coast has a provision in its constitution that prohibits the name of the country from being translated out of French (the official name is Cote d' Ivorie, give or take a few vowels). This brings up another point: if the only language your country can be named in is French, you're majorly whipped. :P

Paris has also drafted a resolution to go before the UN Security Council calling for an arms embargo, a travel ban on key figures accused of derailing the peace process and a freeze on their overseas assets.
And blowing up two jets and five helicopters unmanned, evacuating your nationals and trying to negotiate a peaceful settlement through the UN compares to the U.S. invasion of Iraq how?
Not a proud moment for either country really. Africa is a total mess.
