This was posted on Volition Watch a few days ago. Since some people were interested in getting their hands on FreeSpace 2, this might come as welcome news:
"We just had a meeting about it this morning. There will be 2000 copies available, and only through the Interplay store. They will be numbered copies and will be selling for $49.95. We will probaby start taking pre-orders in a couple weeks. We will be sending out an email announcement, and also plastering it all over the site when it goes into the store."

Hmm... looks like they're going back through their archives for titles that could make them some cash.
I wonder if maybe they'd consider releasing a Descent Trilogy including D1, LOTW, D2, Vertigo, D3, and Merc.

Wonder if they would do this for Descent? Like make a Platnimum Edition that includes ALL the Descents?
D1
D2
D2 Vertigo
D3
D3 Mercs
Would be nice.
edit: Dcrazy, wonder who posted first if we knew the seconds?

If they rerelease the Descent Trilogy, they'd have to release D1X along with it, otherwise there might be a bunch of people that have never played Descent before wondering why its unplayable on their 3 ghz P4's

Heh!
Dunno if they'd go for releasing an unofficial version of their own product.

There can be a Descent Trilogy if Volition makes a new patch for D1 and D2.

D1x was made independently by Sekmu... All one would have to do is buy their re-release of D1, install it, patch it, then use D1x just like we've been doing for years now.
There really wouldn't be anything different other then being able to own a copy or two of each title, which most of us already did years ago as well. On the other hand I find the fact that they are re-releasing FS2 for almost $50.00 ridiculous, as if it were a brand spanking new game
. Thats about like Half-Life GOTY edition still being $29.99...what a crock of sh!t.

I bought Half-Life GOTY for $10 over a year ago. I think you're thinking of the Platinum Pak, which includes HL, Opposing Force, and Blue Shift.

I just got the Half Life "Platinum Edition" for $23 at gogamer. It's got GOTY, CS, OP, TF, & BS. I didn't have any of those titles, so I thought it was a decent deal.

If they made a Descent tilogy they'd have to include Descent 4 with it because thst's part of the series now...

so, yeah- if they release d1/d2 they will need to release a completely new windows exe that is actually debugged, and stuff. Doubt that will happen- it will take a good bit of resources.

A Descent trilogy would only contain Descent, Descent 2, Descent 3 and probably their expansions. Nothing else. Why? Because these were the only games made by Interplay. Interplay has no control over Descent 4 (and in fact I think they might even be able to sue over it, because they own the trademark to Descent), and thus wouldn't be obligated to include it in anything.
I don't see one coming out though, due to D1's inability to run with current OSes (sure, D2 may refuse to install under 2K and XP, but that's easily bypassed and the Win95 version of the game DOES run under NT based OSes, running well is another story
).

Unless it suddenly has extras, I think I'll keep my store-bought copy.

Hopefully with Titus behind this mayby by releasing this "limited edition" will help spark interest in the game and spread the word, no?
I know if they did this for D3 you would see allot of people here go "OMG with this well get a descent 4!!!!1!!!".
