Mine:
- Call of Duty (Best Buy)
- ESA progressive-scan DVD/VCR (Circuit City)
- various software packages (CompUSA)
All for other people. None of the items I was eyeing was on sale this year.
What was really nice, I didn't get there at an unreal hour to wait in line this year, strolled in at 9-ish! Well I kinda had to considering I was up late last night, at a location 2.5 hours away from home...

Well, I didn't go, other people in my family did, but I got an LCD, and there's probably other stuff.

Shopping on Black Friday is insane. Truly. I did today, and all I was able to get out of it was Tales of Symphonia on the GCN.

I shopped on line on Wednesday. I got my hubby a CRT HD-TV. Gonna wait another 5 or 6 years for plasma or lcd. According to Consumer Reports you still get a lot more bang for your buck with a conventional TV form. Also for my hubby a DVD player reader/writer thingy. (Both of these at Circuit City) Got my daughter a portable DVD player based on recommendations from some guys who used this brand in Iraq and consumer report ratings, got a very very good deal on an HP digital camera printer bundle for $149 for my daughter at Office Max, got a little indigo lcd monitor made specifically for the indigo Game Cube for my son. Also, the transformer's anniversary edition Optimus Prime for my son and for moi, Return to the Grievous Angel, a tribute to Gram Parsons that Emmylou Harris put together. It's got a bunch of Alt. Country peeps on it like Gillian Welch, Lucinda Williams and of course Ms. Emmylou herself.
All at great prices without setting my feet on mall property. Yay me!

Day after thanksgiving which is supposedly the largest christmas shopping day in the year. Lots of companies have very lucrative sales going on as well.
I know people who said that there were lines outside of electronics stores at 4am waiting for the 6am opening.

I was out all day, so I had a first hand look at the lines in a variety of places. In the busy spots it wasn't so different, but the smaller shopping areas is where the difference stood out - they were much more packed than usual.

I hate black Friday especially in the town I live in. Any one who is live in the Chicago land area might know about road called Route 59 in between Naperville and Aurora. This is where I have seen black Friday at its worse not to mention the traffic. Iâ??d say under 3 miles of road these are stores that sit on RT59 or around it.
Here a small list of them: Fox Valley Mall, Sears, JCPenney, Marshall Field, Carson Pirie Scott, Kohlâ??s, CompUSA, Best Buy, Cost Co, Circuit City, Office Max, Office Depot, Wal Mart, Target, Tiger Direct, Sams Club, PC Warehouse, Toys R Us, Gateway Computers, Borders Books and Music, Walgreenâ??s, Cub Foods, Meijer, Home Depot, Hobby Lobby, Expo an Home Depot outlet, Loweâ??s, and Menards.
Thatâ??s not even half of it there are other electronic, pet, hardware, clothing, music, jewelry, sports, furniture stores and any thing else I missed that just way to close to each other. Even banks, fast food places and gas stations get packed over packed. Because of all this each year that goes by black Friday only gets worse. This is differently one time of the year I try to avoid. People just get way to stupid around here.

Absolutely nothing, and neither did my parents. We all sat around and ate the leftovers of the big meal.
You people are all media slaves. Last-minute Christmas shopping is for the real men.

I'm sorry to hear that. Combo players = teh suck. VERY cheaply built, and don't work worth a crap. I seriously doubt it'll last more than a year if you're lucky.

Actually, the biggest problem with consumer electronics like that (especially new tv's) is power.
Like computers, newer electronics need clean power, thats why you need to get batterybackup units with AVR for just about everything these days. Usually just your key components tho, TV, dvd/vcr, stereo reciever... the expensive pieces...
People complain about how their old tv lasted 20 years and this new tv they got only lasted 2.. its bad power man. Put an APC behind it and I'll bet you it does last 20 years.

I got a Frosty from Wendy's and a bitchin LIVE cd from my favorite band (at the concert... You people are INSANE to shop on Black Friday)
On a side note, my wife works retail, and her store was offering a free ornament for coming in the store. They had everyone available working from 5:00am to meet the rush... well, all people were doing was coming into the store for the ornament and leaving!
